    In accordance with Florida Statute 775.21, this is a mandatory notification of the changing address of a registered sexual predator in Levy County.

    Shawn Lorenzo Wideman Sr. was convicted in Virginia in 2007 for sexual battery on a child and lewd and lascivious molestation on a child.

  • Indians scalp Lady Red Devils

    Chiefland High School’s volleyball team outlasted a surging Williston this past Monday night, defeating the Red Devils in five games, 25-19, 25-16, 21-25, 22-25, 15-13.

    The Indians were in control in the first game, rebounding from a 3-1 deficit to eventually take the lead at 12-11, thanks to two kills by Taylore Fuller. Chiefland expanded its lead to 18-13, holding out for the Game 1 win with a 5-3 run.

    A memorial service for James Simon Bailey 1939-1908 of Company G, 60th Regiment Georgia CSA will be held Sunday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. at Jennings Lake Cemetery.

  • County starts food bank

    William Brown stood up at Tuesday’s Levy County Commission meeting and by the time he yielded the floor he had three accomplishments to his book.

    Brown, co-founder of The Children’s Table, first introduced the commission to Tyler Beauchamp, son of Mickey and Cheryl Beauchamp of Bronson.

    Young Beauchamp is a member of the Future Farmers of America and as a project planted and harvested seven acres of peas for Children’s Table to be distributed to feed families in need. Brown presented Beauchamp with a plaque honoring his gift.

    1 c creamy peanut butter
    1 c sugar
    1 T butter or margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 c heavy cream

  • Fall at the Lodge raises $52K

    More than $52,000 was raised when 300 people attended Fall at the Lodge, the annual fund-raiser for Haven Hospice.
    “Fall at the Lodge was a tremendous success,” said Michael Morse, vice president of organizational advancement at Haven Hospice. “The location was beautiful, the weather was fantastic and the fellowship was great. So many people donated their time, talent and treasure to help make the event even more successful than last year.”

    Fat Steer Weigh In:
    The fat steer weigh in will take place Saturday, Oct. 2 from 7-9 a.m. at the fairgrounds in Fanning Springs. This is the first weigh-in for all market steers participating in the 2011 Suwannee River Youth Livestock Show and Sale. An entry form is required and is available online at mysrf.org. The form must be completed and signed by the exhibitor, parent and FFA advisor/4H leader. Entry fee is $25.

  • JV falls to Dixie County

        It took the Dixie County JV football team a little over a half of football Thursday night September 23, to hold on to the football. Once the Bears figured out they needed to hold onto the ball, they came from behind to down the Red Devil JV team 16-6.

    The first half saw the Red Devils unable to move the football, and the Bears stopped themselves on several drives deep in Red Devil territory. The Red Devils were unable to cross the 50 yard line until the last play of the half.
