  • Memorial dedication is Saturday

    Dreams can and do come true and this Saturday, the long-anticipated recurring dream of the Williston Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) will become reality as the Veterans' Memorial will be dedicated.

    The ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. in the Heritage Park Pavilion and, weather permitting, will move south for the unveiling of the monument that honors the men and women of America's Armed Forces.

  • 'Doggy' dining may come to Williston

    Dog lovers may soon have other companions with them as they partake their evening meal.

    Tuesday night the Williston City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance that will allow dogs to be in designated dining areas of city restaurants.

    City Manager Scott Lippmann broached the idea two weeks ago when he notified council that a local restaurant had been cited by the health department because it allowed a dog in the patio area of the restaurant.

    Tuesday, that businessman came forward.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • April 28, Dominque Detron Aldridge, 23, Gainesville, possession of cocaine, possession and/or use drug equipment. Bond $30,000.

    • April 28, James Braxton Boyd, 27, Branford, contempt of court, possession of a controlled substance w/o a prescription, possession of marijuana not more than 20 grams, possession and/or use drug equipment. Bond $130,000.

  • TEC receives Clay Electric grant

    The Clay Electric Foundation recently announced that Tomorrow’s Equestrian Center in Williston is the recipient of a grant from the Operation Round Up program. Tomorrow’s Equestrian Center received $11,607.92.

    Artists Needed

    Exhibitors are needed for the Starving Artists Showcase, sponsored by the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce, to be held Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Williston’s Heritage Park.

    Artists in all media are invited to participate to showcase and sell their work. 

    Booth space is available for $15 per booth.

    The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce selected Sharon Brannan CPA as the April Business of the Month. In making the selection, board members praised owner Sharon Brannan for always having immaculate grounds, continually supporting the Chamber and its efforts and during this time of the year, for bringing many people to town.     • April 18, Deontre Leron Baker, 19, Williston, burglary, vehicle theft. Bond $55,000.
