  • Don't drink and drive

    On Dec. 31, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office will host a DUI, Driver’s License Vehicle Safety Check Point on SR 121 in the area of 250 NE 6th Blvd in the city of Williston from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

    This will be a part of a statewide effort to crack down on impaired driving over the holidays.

    Drivers are asked have their insurance, registration and driver’s license ready when entering the check point.


  • Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    Yolanda Regina White, 37, of Williston was charged Dec. 21 with possession of cannabis more than 20 grams, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis with the intent to distribute. Bond was $10,000.

    Richard N. Corbin, 44, of Williston was arrested Dec. 23 with corruption by threat and resisting without violence after he was picked up on violation of probation (VOP) warrant. Bond was $4,000.

  • Criminal sentences handed down

    The following persons were sentenced, found not guilty or the case nolle pros–dropped–in the Criminal Division of the 8th Circuit Court in Levy County. The information is taken from public records.

    August: Debbie J. Barfield, 55, of Chiefland, driving with a suspended or revoked license, 90 days with credit for 17 days served; and attaching tag not assigned to vehicle, 60 days with credit for 17 days served, served concurrently. Must pay jail fund and civil judgement.

  • Williston Police Reports

    The Williston Police Department reports the following arrests:

    • Michael R. Hammock, 42, of SE 2nd Avenue, charged on an Alachua County warrant for fraud Dec. 24.

    • Warren Rashard Frazier, 19, of NE 1st Avenue, charged with resisting without violence Dec. 22.

    • Edgar Amilcar Munoz-Coto, 25, of NE 117th Avenue charged with driving without a license Dec. 27.

  • Churches burglarized

    A Williston church was burglarized Monday night, according to Police Chief Dan Davis and the thieves were targeting money left in the church.

    The burglary is the second in as many weeks, and are part of a regional problem where houses of worship have been targeted in several jurisdictions.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office is asking all churches to revisit their security procedures to include the way they handle and store money to reduce the impact of a such a burglary at their church.

  • Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • David H. Darling, 21, of Fanning Springs, was arrested Dec. 14 and charged with home invasion. Bond was $50,000.

    • Dytrona Lewis Harvey, 29, of Ocala, was charged Dec. 14 with three counts sale of a controlled substance and three counts possession of a controlled substance. Bond was $145,000.

    • Tavaris Linell Hill, 31, of Williston was charged with violation of probation (VOP)–DUI on Dec. 18. Bond was $10,000.

  • Robbery suspects sought

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office and the Williston Police Depatment are investigating an armed robbery that took place Dec. 18 in East Williston.

    The victim reported that he had just been paid and then robbed at gunpoint after he gave an unknown man a ride.

    When the two arrived in the 4500 block of NE 210 Avenue, the suspect took the victim’s cell phone and made a phone call.  A short time later another black male walked out of the woods armed with a gun and robbed the victim at   gun point of an undisclosed amount of money. 

  • Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    Christopher Wayne Pryor, 24, of Ocala was charged Dec. 13 with possession of marijuana, less than 20 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on his own recognizance.

    Anthony Leroy Thomas, 42, of Bronson was charged Dec. 12 with fleeing/eluding, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting with violence. Bond was $2,000.

    Nathaniel Walters, 40, of Morriston was charged Dec. 11 with Violation of Probation (VOP) grand theft auto. Bond was $7,500.

  • Sheriff's Report

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Officer reports the following arrested from Nov. 30-Dec. 4:

    Mary E. Davis, 23, of Dunnellon was arrested Dec. 4 and charged with Violation of Probation (VOP) battery, sex with victim between 12-15 years old. Bond was $10,000.

    Shawn J. Reinhart, 28, of Fanning Springs was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked (DWLSR) Dec. 4. He was released on his own recognizance.

    Charles Lenon Jenkins of Williston was arrested Dec. 4 on a writ of bodily attachment. Bond was $2,160.

  • Williston Police Department

    The Williston Police Department reports the following arrests:

    • Patrick Hughey, 18, of NE 3rd Avenue, charged Nov. 23 with burglary and theft after he allegedly took a cash register.

    •Andrew John Bailey, 28, of Gainesville was charged with possession of cannabis, less than 20 grams and possession of prescription oils on Nov. 24.

    •Kenyatta Misada Haynes, 31, of NE 77th Avenue was arrested Nov. 21 and charged with grand theft and scheme to defraud.

    •Donald E. Stewart, 30, of NW 2nd Street was charged with domestic battery Nov. 25.
