  • Man dies from injuries sustained in dirt bike accident

    A Williston man died July 2 after crashing his dirt bike on NW 13th Street June 29.

    Dana Monroe, 26, was driving his 2004 Yamaha dirt bike southbound, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

    Monroe was jumping over a driveway, according to the accident report. He made the jump, crashed and was ejected. He came to rest in a ditch and the dirt bike traveled to the west and into a vacant lot.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    •Jorge Escobedo Alonso, 29. Bronson; arrested July 2, no driver’s license and resisting arrest without violence. Bond $12,000.

    • James Alexander Smith III, 35, Otter Creek; arrested July 2, habitual traffic offender. Bond $10,000.

    • Brandy R. Hall, 49, Tampa; arrested July 3, Violation of Probation (VOP) controlled substance. No bond.

  • Bond named Officer of the Year

    In 2009 Investigator James Bond was named Officer of the Year for the Williston Police Department, for the second year in a row.

    As it happens, news of Bond’s exploits got to the Southern Police Institute Alumni Association (Florida Chapter) and they concurred.

    Bond has been chosen SPIAA Officer of the year for Florida and he will be recognized and handed a scholarship to Southern Police Institute’s Command Officer Development Course on Friday July 23, at the SPIAA National Conference in West Palm Beach.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • Timothy L. Cobb, 37, of Bronson. Arrested June 15, burglary of unoccupied building unarmed. Bond $30,000.

    • Tony Holt Sr., 52, of Gainesville. Arrested June 15, burglary assault, domestic assault, domestic battery, resisting without violence. Bond $100,000.

    • Nicole D. Hooper, 19, of Chiefland. Arrested June 16, Violation of Probation (VOP) petit theft. No bond.

    • Ronald Alan Fisher, 20, of Trenton. Arrested June 15, VOP, grand theft. No bond.

  • Car chase lands man in jail

    Unhappy motorist Ho Jun Kim took police officers on two dangerous chases in as many weeks. The 43-year-old Naples resident resisted arrest and fled from law enforcement in two incidents involving four counties, according to a press release issued by the Williston Police Department.

    Kim was arrested June 8 by Williston Police Officers when he ran a red light, narrowly missing a police cruiser who had the right of way.

    Robert Wayne Thomas, 43, Chiefland. Arrested June 7, Violation of Probation (VOP) use of a child in a sexual performance. No bond.

    Melanie R. Sawyer, 35, Morriston. Arrested June 7, Failure to Appear (FTA) larceny, petit. Bond $1,000.

    Pamela Tucker, 45, Bronson. Arrested June 6, drugs. Bond $500.

    • Vincent L. Ever, 34, of Yankeetown. Arrested June 5. Domestic battery. Released on own recognizance.

    • Theresa Wilson, 60, of Bronson. Arrested June 4. Possession on marijuana, less than 20 grams and sale of cannabis. Released on own recognizance.

    • David Darrell Ables, 30, of Cross City. Arrested June 4. Driving while license suspended or revoked (DWLSR) knowingly.

    •Tina Louise Butler, 42, of Williston. Arrested June 2. Violation of Probation forgery.

    • Ronnie Levene Walker Jr., 26, of Lake City. Arrested May 29. Possession of crack cocaine.

    • Kathryn Jane Shroka, 23, of Morriston. Arrested May 29. Possession of paraphernalia.

    • Dana Kaye Ward, 41, of Micanopy. Arrested May 29. DUI, paraphernalia, refusing to sign a citation and possession of drugs.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • Thomas Charles Morris, 27, Bronson. Arrested May 26–resisting without violence.

    • Justin P. Lentini, 45, Yankeetown. Arrested May 29–DUI, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, disorderly intoxication, reckless driving, leaving scene of an accident with injury, simple battery and attempted murder. Bond was $210,000.

  • Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • Sean Thomas Wheeler, 30, of Pinellas Park was arrested in February for trafficking in Oxycodone, possession of a concealed weapon and counterfeit bills. Bond was $30,000.

    • Robert Edward Hughes, 20, of Bronson was arrested May 22 for armed robbery and aggravated assault. Bond was $30,000.

    • Julian Michael Carrozza, 31, of Bronson was charged May 21 with battery on a person over the age of 65. Bond was $25,000.
