Williston City Clerk Latricia Wright
Wright chosen as city clerk

Six interviewers. Five applicants. Five hours. One clerk position to fill.

That set the stage last week when Williston City Council, the mayor and city attorney spent five hours over two days interviewing applicants in order to name a city clerk.

The result is Latricia Wright, an eight-year city employee, who has been acting as interim clerk since June.

In accepting the position, Wright became the first black person to hold a city charter position, therefore, etching her name in the annals of Williston forever.
