    Peanut Butter Drive

    Levy County Farm Bureau will host its annual Peanut Butter Food Drive March 1-16 from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at its offices located at 208 NW Main St., Williston or 312 E. Park Ave., Chiefland.

    Peanut butter donations will be presented to the First United Methodist Church Food Bank in Williston, Another Way in Chiefland and Tri-County Outreach in Chiefland.

    Movie in the Park

    The city of Williston will hold its monthly Movie in the Park Friday, Feb. 16 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage Park Pavilion.

    There is no charge and hot dogs, popcorn and drinks are provided free. Bring a chair or blanket and join in the community fun.

    This month's movie is a classic Disney film featuring a romance between dogs who share spaghetti.

    Lighthouses in Florida

    Brendan Bourke will present a lecture titled Lighthouses in Florida Thursday, Feb. 15.

    AARP Meeting

    AARP Chapter #912 will celebrate Mardi Gras at its meeting Monday, Feb. 12 in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church fellowship hall, 661 NE 1st Ave., Williston. Wearing Mardi Gras colors (gold, green and purple) beads and mask is optional.

    Coffee and socializing is 9:30 a.m. and the meeting is at 10 a.m. Visitors are always welcomed.

    WWII Vets Luncheon

    WWII veterans, friends, caregivers and spouses will meet at 11 a.m. Feb. 8 in Cross City at the Taste of Dixie Diner, 16840 SE US Highway 19.

    AARP Driving Class

    AARP will sponsor a driving class Monday, Feb. 5 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Bronson Road Baptist Church, 13830 NE 80th Ave., Bronson.

     The objectives of the course include: understanding the effects of aging on driving, learning defensive driving strategies aimed at reducing crash risks, updating knowledge of the rules of the road in Florida, and increasing confidence and maintaining independence. There are no tests.

    Spay/Neuter For Feral Cats

    Levy County will begin a once-a-month spay/neuter program for feral cats Thursday, Jan. 25.

    The program is open to Levy County residents only and is by appointment.

    Cats that are scheduled for surgery must be brought in a cat trap the day before the appointment is scheduled.

    World War II veterans will meet at 11 a.m. Jan. 11 at Cherry's Restaurant in Trenton.

    HandiCapable Meeting

    HandiCapable Sportspeople will meet noon, Saturday, Jan. 13 at the Black Prong Trail Head, located on CR 337 south of Bronson.

    A free pulled pork sandwich will be included, and at 2 p.m. ideas about the group will be discussed.

    The organization is looking for members of all classes, abilities, disabilities and ages.

    Garden Club Special Speakers

    Williston Garden Club invites the general public to its next meeting Jan. 10.

    Members of Cedar Keys Audubon Chapter will speak on their mission to conserve and restore our unique natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity. This chapter was honored as Chapter of the Year for 2017 at the Audubon Assembly in St. Augustine this past October, in part because of their impressive Birds Rescue program.

    Walk To Bethlehem

    Walk To Bethlehem is a narrated interactive journey.

    The free event is located at 4551 SE SR121, Morriston between CR326 and CR464 and is open every evening through Dec. 23 from 7-9 p.m.

    All are welcome to come out and stroll through the Christmas fantasyland, check out the many new displays, see Santa and enjoy refreshments, in addition to joining a caravan on the journey to Bethlehem.

    This annual event is sponsored by Living Water Life Center, Morriston.

  • Kaley and David McCurdy announce the birth of their daughter, Lydia Jo, born at 10:20 p.m. Nov. 8.

    The baby weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 22 inches long.

    Grandparents are Debbie Andrews, Kelby Andrews, Kathy Gilliam and Brent Zullo.

    Lydia Jo was welcomed home by older brother, Kaden.
