    CEE Meeting

    Obstacles to the Jan.8, 2019, implementation of Amendment 4 will top the agenda when Citizens for an Engaged Electorate meets on Thursday, Dec. 20.

    Other topics for discussion include: the Medicare For All movement; Williston City Council elections; and CEE's possible involvement in a statewide coalition of progressive groups. Rounding out the agenda will be CEE participation in several events coming up in January and February.

    The monthly business meeting is set for 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Williston Public Library, 10 SE 1st St.

    Citizens for an Engaged Electorate hosts its monthly Open Discussion Luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Melanie's Restaurant, 112 E. Noble Ave. in Williston. Participants pay for their own meals.

    Dec. 1, there will be two organizational meetings for the Levy County Democratic Executive Committee at 1610 120th Ave., Williston.

    To accommodate disparate schedules there will be two separate meetings: 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. There is no need to come to both meetings.

    Cattlemen Meeting

    The Levy County Cattlemen and Landowners Association will hold its Fall Membership Meeting Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Whitehurst Lodge located at 9820 SW CR 346, Archer, FL 32618.

    Anyone interested in joining is invited to attend. You do not need to own cattle to become a member.

  • Choir members needed

    All are welcome and invited to join The Inter-Faith Choir of Williston. There are no fees to join and participants do not need to know how to read music.

    The choir will hold its first practice Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.

    Practice will be at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 650 North Main St. in Williston.

    The choir will hold its second practice at the First United Methodist Church of Williston the following Thursday, Nov. 1 (213 W. Noble Ave.).

    World War II Vets and Proud of It will meet Oct. 11 at Northwest Grille in Gainesville at 11 a.m.

    All veterans, spouses and caregivers are welcome to attend.

    Benefit Yard Sale

    There will be a huge yard sale to benefit Stirrups ‘n Strides Therapeutic Riding Center programs Saturday, Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

    Railroads and Riverboats

    The public is invited to take an excursion back in time to the Golden Age of Transportation at an exhibit of “Railroads and Riverboats” at the Cedar Key Community Center, “F” and Sixth Streets, Cedar Key.

    Sponsored by the Levy County Historical Society, the exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28; Saturday, Sept. 29 and Sunday, Sept. 30.

    Admission to the exhibit is free.

  • Sweet treats wanted

    The GWFC Williston Junior Woman's Club will host a Sweet Treats contest for the 30th Annual North Central Florida Peanut Festival Saturday, Oct. 6.

    Drop off your entry between 9-10 a.m. the morning of the festival. The winners will be announced at 11:30 a.m.

    Bring your sweet treat, which must include peanuts as an ingredient, $5 entry free and the entry form to their tent, near the pavilion.
