Williston sophomore Leandrea Evans eyes the basket while guarded by Chiefland forward Sierra Norris Jan. 29 in Williston. Thanks to the flu bug, the Lady Red Devils were without their top scorers on senior night, including junior standout Niyah Jackson, but they hung tight with Lady Indians until the fourth quarter, eventually falling 50-35. Evans led Williston with 12 points on the night, while Cece Shuman and Anna Vanblaricum each connected from 3-point range for the squad. The top-seeded Williston girls (13-7 overall) play Hawthorne in Hawthorne Feb. 6 in the semifinals of the District 1A-6 tournament. The championship game will be Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.

“We feel pretty good heading into districts,” WMHS coach Calvin Edwards said. “(Jackson) can give us 20 points, easy.”
