Pre-4th Extravaganza to light up Williston

Parade, fireworks set for July 3

The city of Williston will “Celebrate Old Glory” Thursday, July 3 starting with the parade at 5 p.m.

More than 110 entrants have registered for the parade that will wind its way down Noble Avenue. Scheduled participants include Smoky Bear, a roller derby team, candidates, a square dance club and of course, lots of antique cars and tractors.

Immediately after the parade, festivities will begin in Williston Horseman’s Park located on Hwy 41, one mile south of Williston. There is a $2 per carload donation requested but NOT required. Parking will be done by the Cowboy Church.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 7 p.m. There will be food, rides, vendors and musical entertainment from local performers, including Amber Richburg, Billie Brock, Lexi Zapata and Mindy Shouse. The main attraction again this year is Ocala’s Shane Wooten.

 Admission to the park is free.

Bring lawn chairs or blankets. No coolers, pets, alcohol or fireworks will be allowed inside the gates. Fireworks will begin at dusk.
