Tai Chi Classes

Tai Chi classes for arthritis and fall prevention will be held Monday and Wednesday beginning May 8 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at 623 East Noble Ave., Williston.

Comfortable attire is requested. The instructor will be Elizabeth Dalusio.

CEE Meeting

Discussion will open with a report on the Empty Chair Town Hall meetings held in Williston and Dunnellon when Citizens for an Engaged Electorate meets Thursday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at Williston Community Center.

Also on the agenda are: July town hall meetings with Rep. Dunn; a roundup of the state legislative session; summertime activities in Williston and surrounding areas; and a report on the voting rights restoration ballot initiative. The meeting will wrap up with information on activities sponsored by national groups that affect us locally.

The Community Center is located at 50 N.W. Main St., on the north side of the Walgreen's parking lot.

HCE Meeting

The Levy County Home and Community Educators (HCE) group meets on Thursday, May 18 in the UF/IFAS Extension office conference room, at 625 N. Hathaway Ave., Bronson at 10 a.m..

This will be the group’s last meeting before summer break. The HCE will re-start in the fall.

TDC Meeting

The Levy County Tourist Development Council will meet in its rescheduled regular bi-monthly meeting Thursday, May 18 at 6 p.m. at 620 N Hathaway Ave, Bronson, Levy County Road Dept. Office Building.

Dementia Support Group

A local support group for caregivers who are coping with loved ones suffering from dementia will have its first meeting Saturday, May 27 from 1-3 p.m. in the community center at Williston City Hall, 50 NW Main St.

The group plans to meet monthly with no associated fees in order to offer a community service for those who are trying to navigate the waters of dementia caregiving.

Alanon meets at 7 p.m. every Monday at Midway Plaza.

Square Dancing

Mobile Food Pantry

The second Thursday of each month there will be a mobile pantry sponsored by From the Heart Ministry at the Masonic Hall in Williston. The doors will open at 12:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Buy a Paver; Honor Veterans

The plan to unveil a veterans’/war memorial in Heritage Park will be held Veterans Day 2017.

To date, more than $30,000 has been raised for the memorial.

A project by the Williston Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the memorial will also honor veterans – living and dead – with stone pavers at its base.

For $50 an individual can honor a veteran with a paver/brick that has space available for three lines to recognize the veteran’s service.

AL Post 236 Bingo

American Legion Post 236 hosts Bingo every Monday at 6 p.m. There are all-inclusive bingo packs for purchase. If enough players are there early, there will be an "early bird" game. The last game of the night is a "winner take all" game. These two games are purchased separately if you wish to play.

The post is located at 9550 Hwy 27 Alt in Bronson. For more information, call 486-5003. Bingo daubers are sold there as well.
