CEE Luncheon

Citizens for an Engaged Electorate hosts its monthly Open Discussion Luncheon Thursday, Oct. 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Melanie's Restaurant, 112 E. Noble in Williston. Join any discussion going on within the group or start one of your own. No topic is off-limits, so long as the discussion is kept respectful.

WWII Vets

Baseball Fundraiser

A pancake breakfast fundraiser for the WHMS baseball program will be held Saturday, Oct. 1 from 8-10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Williston.

The cost is $5. The church is located at 339 E Noble Ave.

Gulf Hammock Homecoming 

The annual Gulf Hammock Homecoming and Smallwood Reunion will be held Saturday, Oct. 8 beginning at 10 a.m. in Gulf Hammock at Beck Park.

Bring a covered dish and chairs.

Woman's Club Luncheon

The Williston Woman's Club will host its annual Country Style Buffet Lunch from 11:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at the clubhouse, located at 1049 NE 6th Blvd..

Adults eat for $9, children 4-10 $4 and children under 3 eat free.

Homemade entrees include chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, pork loin, beef stew and chicken and rice. Add vegetables, side dishes, desserts and tea, water or coffee as you visit with your friends and neighbors.

 

AARP Driving Class

An AARP Driver Safety Class for Seniors will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 213 West Noble Ave., Williston, Thursday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

 The objectives of the course include: understanding the effects of aging on driving, learning defensive driving strategies aimed at reducing crash risks, updating knowledge of the rules of the road in Florida, and increasing confidence and maintaining independence. There are no tests.

 A discount on automobile insurance policies for three years is available to seniors aged 55 and over on completion of the course. 

 Attendees are requested to please bring a sack lunch.

Fall on the Farm

The 10th Annual Fall on the Farm, a fundraiser to benefit Haven Hospice, will be held at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at Rocky Hammock Preserve – the Historical Drummond Farm, located at 311 NE 9th St., Chiefland.

There will be dinner, drinks, live music and a silent auction.

FOWL Program

Friends of the Williston Library will feature Heidi Schwiebert Monday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at the library, located at the corner of East Noble Avenue and SE 1st Street.

Schwiebert will speak on Williston's local attractions, Two Hawk Hammock, Devil's Den and Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens.

Foxx Fall Festival 

Williston Horseman's Association will host the Foxx Fall Festival Oct. 30 at Horseman's Park.

There will be costume contests for people, dogs and horses, in addition to a silent auction.

Proceeds will go to Justin Foxx, who suffers from traumatic brain injury following an automobile accident.

Mobile Food Pantry

The second Thursday of each month there will be a mobile pantry sponsored by From the Heart Ministry at the Masonic Hall in Williston.  The doors will open at 12:30 p.m.  All are welcome.

Healing the Heart

Healing the Heart~Renewing the Mind is a Christian 12-step group that facilitates and supports its members in recovering from a vast array of issues including but not limited to addictions, abuse and depression. This group is free of charge and is open to anyone, male or female, who is in need of help. 

The group will meet each Monday night at 7 p.m. in the circulation room of the Williston Public Library.

Zumba

Zumba Fitness classes are held at First Baptist Church gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. Mondays.  A donation of $2 is recommended.

Love Levy Help Center

Love Levy Community Help Center is open Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to assist residents with food, clothing and biblical guidance. 

Love Levy also provides information about other local organizations which can help with utilities, medical, housing and employment opportunities.
