Democratic Party Meeting

The next meeting of the Levy County Democratic Party will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, beginning at 3:30 p.m., at the Bronson Public Library, located at 600 Gilbert St. in Bronson (Alt. 27, across the street from Save-A-Lot). Light refreshments will be served.

All interested Democrats are invited to attend.

LGREA Meeting

The Levy-Gilchrist Retired Educators Association will hold its planning meeting for the fiscal year Monday, Aug. 19 at The Gathering Table in Chiefland at 10:30 a.m.

If you are a retired educator living in either Levy or Gilchrist county, please attend. Besides fellowship with other retired educators, LGREA provides a scholarship to a graduating senior in one of our counties, reading materials for elementary students, support for current teachers and seeks to keep members apprised of current legislation that affects education and their status as retirees.

The group is affiliated with the Florida Retired Educators Association which lobbies on behalf of members and their pension fund.

Vendors Needed for Peanut Festival

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting vendor applications for the 31st Annual Central Florida Peanut Festival, Saturday, Oct. 5 in Williston's Heritage Park.

Vendors this year will choose their own spaces, so early application is suggested. Only 35 spots remain.

Vendors Needed

A Vintage Market Sale, to be held on the grounds of Archer Community Center, 16671 SW 137th Ave., Archer, will take place Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.

The sale is held in collaboration with the city of Archer and the Archer Historical Society.

All proceeds will go to the preservation of the Historic Archer Depot.

Senior Activities

Oasis Community Solutions offers two weekly programs for everyone age 55 and over and caregivers of any age. Crafts class takes place every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Every Thursday is Senior Social, from 10 a.m. to noon. Programs are offered at Fountain of Life Church, 623 E. Noble Ave. in Williston.

Weekly attendance is not required; neither is church affiliation. Individuals are encouraged to drop in as their schedules allow. There is no charge to participate though donations are welcome.

DAV Meetings

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is looking for disabled veterans to join the organization.

It meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p. m. at 6470 SW 8th Ave., Trenton (Otter Springs) the future home of Camp Valor.

Post 236 Bingo

American Legion Post 236 of Bronson has "regular" bingo every Monday at 6 p.m. with light meals. You do not have to be a member of the Legion to play.

The Legion is located outside of Bronson on US 27 Alt. The doublewide is a no smoking environment. Handicap parking is in the rear of the building. For more information, call Margie at 352-317-5922.
