Democratic Meetings

The next Democratic Party meeting is at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20.

After the meeting, the Levy County Democratic Woman's Club meets at 5 p.m.

If you are between the ages of 18-40, come to the woman's meeting and learn more about the Young Dems and the LGBTQ caucuses being formed.

Meetings are held monthly in the Bronson Library, 600 Gilbert St., Bronson, (Alt. 27, across the street from Sav-a-Lot). Light refreshments will be served.

JBE/WES Back to School Bash

Joyce Bullock Elementary School will host a Back to School Bash and Meet the Teacher/Annual Title I Parent Meeting from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 in the JBE cafeteria.

Students are encouraged to bring supplies, learn who their teachers are, visit the classroom and participate in giveaways.

Williston Elementary School will hold its Back to School Bash, Meet the Teacher and Title One Annual Meeting from 3-5 p.m. also Aug. 8

Parents can report to the cafeteria to get the name of their child’s teacher, visit booths set up with information for families,and visit the classroom to get information about being a Title One school and drop off school supplies.

The student school day: 7:30-2:10

Vendors Needed for Peanut Festival

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting vendor applications for the 31st Annual Central Florida Peanut Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5 in Williston's Heritage Park.

Vendors this year will choose their own spaces, so early application is suggested.

Senior Activities

Oasis Community Solutions offers two weekly programs for everyone age 55 and over and caregivers of any age. Crafts class takes place every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Every Thursday is Senior Social, from 10 a.m. to noon. Programs are offered at Fountain of Life Church, 623 E. Noble Ave. in Williston.

Weekly attendance is not required; neither is church affiliation. Individuals are encouraged to drop in as their schedules allow. There is no charge to participate though donations are welcome.

DAV Meetings

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is looking for disabled veterans to join the organization.

It meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p. m. at 6470 SW 8th Ave., Trenton (Otter Springs) the future home of Camp Valor.

Post 236 Bingo

American Legion Post 236 of Bronson has "regular" bingo every Monday at 6 p.m. with light meals.

You do not have to be a member of the Legion to play.

The Legion is located outside of Bronson on US 27 Alt. The doublewide is a no smoking environment. Handicap parking is in the rear of the building.
