Farm Bureau Peanut Butter Drive

Levy County Farm Bureau is hosting its 5th Annual Peanut Butter Food Drive now through Feb. 22.

All peanut butter donations will be distributed to First United Methodist Church Food Bank in Williston, Another Way Shelter in Chiefland and Tri-County Outreach in Chiefland.

Drop off your donations to the Chiefland (312 E Park Av.e) or Williston (208 NW Main St.) Farm Bureau Offices between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

CEE Meeting

New Levy County School Board member Ashley Clemenzi will address members of Citizens for an Engaged Electorate at their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 21.

Following discussion with Ms. Clemenzi are several topics, including Levy County's newly formed Democratic Executive Committee, a statewide ballot initiative to expand Medicaid coverage and bills filed in the state legislature regarding women's healthcare.

The meeting is set for 7-8:30 p.m. in the Community Room at Williston City Hall, 50 NW Main St.

Robert Philpot Way Cleanup

Williston FFA will host a roadside cleanup Saturday, Feb. 23 from 9-11 a.m. on Robert Philpot Way.

Student and adult volunteers are needed and will meet at the WMHS Ag shop at 9 a.m. for supplies and instructions. Community service hours will be given.

AL Quarter Auction

American Legion Post 236 of Bronson will hold a Quarter Auction Feb. 23 from 1-3 p.m. at Post headquarters, 9550 Alt. 27 South.

Bring your quarters; purchase a paddle and have fun. You may go home with an item for only a quarter. Auction items may be viewed at 12:30 the day of auction. Handicap parking in rear.

Chamber Banquet

The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual banquet and installation of officers at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 in the parish hall at Holy Family Catholic Church.

This year's theme is My America. Guests are encouraged to wear red, white and blue or something representative of the state where they were born.

Tickets are $30 each and sponsorship tables are available for $200.

The banquet is open to chamber members, their guests and potential members.

DAV Meetings

The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is looking for disabled veterans to join the organization.

It meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p. m. at Beef O’Brady’s, 7050 NW 140th St., Chiefland.

Post 236 Bingo

American Legion Post 236 of Bronson has "regular" bingo every Monday at 6 p.m. with light meals and on Wednesday those attending may play "Quarter Bingo" at 1 p.m. and offer snacks and drinks.

You do not have to be a member of the Legion to play.

The Legion is located outside of Bronson on US 27 Alt. The doublewide is a no smoking environment. Handicap parking is in the rear of the building.

Pick Up a Williston Map

The Williston Chamber of Commerce has updated city maps as part of its ongoing effort to assist tourists and newcomers to the eastern part of Levy County.

The maps are free and available at the Chamber from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday through Friday at 50 N Main St. For more information, call 528-5552.

Senior Activities

Oasis Community Solutions offers two weekly programs for everyone age 55 and over and caregivers of any age. Crafts class takes place every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon. No artistic background is needed to participate in this Make-N-Take program, and all materials are supplied. This is an excellent opportunity for seniors to socialize while exploring a creative outlet. Offerings for the new year include a variety of needlecrafts, paper crafts and upcycling projects.

Every Thursday is Senior Social, from 10 a.m. to noon. Enjoy a cup of coffee while chatting with friends and neighbors or meeting others whose path you haven't crossed before. For those who prefer, a number of games are available as well: Scrabble, Yahtzee!, Perquackey, backgammon, chess, checkers and cards. Feel free to bring your favorite game/board as well as your preferred beverage if coffee isn't your thing.

These ongoing programs are offered at Fountain of Life Church, 623 E. Noble Ave. in Williston. Weekly attendance is not required; neither is church affiliation. Individuals are encouraged to drop in as their schedules allow. There is no charge to participate though donations are welcome.

Woman's Club Playhouse

The GFWC Williston Woman's Club will debut Murder on the Oriental Rug at 7 p.m. Friday, March 8.

Other performances are at 7 p.m. March 9, 15 and 16 and a matinee at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10.

Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door. Proceeds benefit the scholarship fund.
