Mr. and Mrs. James G. Dean celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Aug. 28.

The couple was married in Ft. Lauderdale Aug. 28, 1944 after James, a member of the U. S. Marine Corps, returned from the South Pacific, where he participated in the invasions of Guadalcanal and New Guinea.

After the end of WWII, the couple resided in Miami until 1959, when they moved to Williston.  He spent his early years in Levy County and the return brought them closer to family.

The couple has a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Wanda Dean of Lafayette Springs, Miss. and a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Brian Tribby of Gainesville.  In addition, they have one grandson, Matt Tribby and his wife Sahar Tribby, also of Gainesville.

Mr. Dean spent many years in the trucking business while Mrs. Dean took care of the household.  They are members of the First Baptist Church of Williston and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
