Employee raises, increased millage, $13 million budget

By Carolyn Ten Broeck, Editor

Looking into the faces of the people who keep the city running, listening to their stories for better wages and hearing some are on public assistance was all it took for Councilwoman Nancy Wininger to flip her vote Tuesday night to support a pay increase that will bring all Williston employees above the poverty level of $25,000.

Prior to the first public hearing for Fiscal Year 2018-2019, Wininger told council that unless she heard a compelling reason to change her mind, she could not support pay increases that would cost the city a little over $194,000.
