  • WYAA has new officers; looks toward gridiron
    By KEITH CHARTRAND Contributing Writer WILLISTON – It was the first men’s softball game of the season and Williston Youth Athletic Association board member and football coordinator Bobby Crooms is doing what he does best: multitasking. He is answering questions from parents inquiring about the WYAA June youth football camp sign ups. He is turning the lights on for the softball field. He is manning the concession stand deep fryer and grill serving up French fries, hot dogs and hamburgers.
  • 4-H Day Camp Registration
    Applications for 4-H day camps are now being accepted. Campers must be 8 years old by the date of the camp attending. All 8 and 9 year olds must have proof of age. Camps include shooting, fishing, marine science, ATV safety and LEGO robotics. For more information, call 352-486-5131 or email harrisl@ufl.edu.
  • 4-H Camp Cherry Lake
    Applications for residential camp 4-H Cherry Lake are now being accepted.  Each camper will attend fun workshops while at camp. Sign up for the workshops will be done at Camp Orientation. Two orientation dates have been set - Sunday, June 9 and Sunday, June 29 both starting at 2 p.m. Cost of the camp is $190. Those qualifying for free and reduced meals pricing deduct $34 (this decision will be made by an office assistant based on income guidelines).
  • Williston Tae Kwon Do adds more wins
     Williston Tae Kwon Do made a return appearance to  the US OPEN ISKA (International Sport Karate Assoc.) International Martial Arts Tournament held July 5-6 at the Coronado Springs Resort in the Disney complex near Kissimmee.
  • WMS shuts out Bradford 38-0
    By Steve Jarboe Contributing Writer If the Williston Middle School football fans were excited last week when the Red Devils shut out the Chiefland Middle School squad 48-0, their excitement continued Thursday night Sept. 27, at Booster Stadium. The entire first half was played in a constant down pour of rain as the teams took the field following a short delay.
  • Saturday deadline to register for WYAA
    This is the last week to register for WYAA spring sports. Register at the field Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon. SPORTS: Soccer Pups- $40 Soccer- $50 for returning players with uniforms, $65 for new players Tee Ball- $75 Baseball- $75 Softball- $75
  • WYAA fall sports signups continue
    WYAA is currently signing up youth for the fall sports programs. Sports available include: Soccer.................5-14 years old ($75) Soccer Pups........3-4 years old ($40) Flag Football.......5-11 years old ($75) Cheerleading......5-11 years old ($75) Tackle Football...7-14 years old ($100) Sign up Dates are: Thursday, Aug. 18 Saturday, Aug. 20 Tuesday, Aug. 23 Thursday, Aug. 25 Saturday, Aug. 27  Times:  Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8 p.m.
  • Baseball Tryouts
    Tryouts for the 6th and 7th grade competitive league baseball team will be held at the WYAA on Monday, Jan. 10 ar 6 p.m.  Players must either attend Williston Middle School or be home schooled and assigned to WMS.  Call Donny McCoy for more info (528-4487).    
  • YWAA
    Children in the Williston/Morriston area play football, soccer, and cheerlead each Saturday at the athletic field.  Rodeo events are available at Horseman's Park
