  • Lady Red Devils sweep Lady...

    It has been several years since the Williston Lady Red Devil Volleyball team has taken a match from the Chiefland Lady Indians during the regular season home and away matches.

    On Sept. 20, the losing came to an end. 

    In game one, the Lady Indians jumped ahead to a 14-10 lead and increased that lead to 20-14. The Lady Red Devils made a gallant effort as they tied the game at 22-22. The Lady Indians, behind the serving of Shyricca Bowers, took game one in the match 25-23.

  • Cooler weather will bring better...

    September has begun to do its job in cooling the coastal waters. 

    Whereas a few weeks ago the temperatures were in the mid 80s, they have begun to fall. 

    This week water temperatures have ranged from 81-83 degrees. Although this is a change of just a few degrees, it is often all the fish need to start feeding more.

  • Santa Fe stuns Lady Red Devils

       The Santa Fe Lady Raiders volleyball team came to Williston’s gym on Thursday night Sept.13, and stunned the Lady Red Devils in three straight games.

    The Lady Raiders controlled the court in game one as they dropped many shots where the Lady Red Devils were unable to return the ball, 25-13. The Lady Raiders continued their domination in game two as they downed the Lady Red  Devils 25-6.

  • Late comeback falls short for...

    Despite a valiant fourth quarter effort, the Williston Red Devils came up short Friday 34-30 playing on the road against the West Nassau Warriors.

    The Warriors scored the game’s opening touchdown late in the first quarter. Red Devil David Heinkel blocked the PAT as the Warriors took a 6-0 lead into the second quarter.

    On the second play of the second quarter the Warriors scored again on a seven yard run. This time the PAT was good and the Warriors took a 13-0 lead.

  • Cooler weather will bring better...

    Sept. 21 marks the last day of summer. The cooler air and subtle weather changes will start to become more and more noticeable and with the hot summer we have had, they are much welcome.

     The Florida sun will start to entertain us less and less as autumn continues creating cooler waters and better fishing. 

    Both off-shore and in-shore production should increase as this happens.

  • Rough seas make off shore...

    Afternoon thunderstorms and rough seas have made off shore fishing next to impossible these past few weeks.

    If you can find a day that weather is favorable long enough for an offshore trip, you will find the fish are out there. The question is–can you make it out there and back safely? 

    With the weather being as it is, inshore fishing will be easier to find times that will allow you to fish. Red fish and trout are hitting well on live shrimp, pin fish and jigs.

  • Hijacked

    It was a steamy night in Pirate Country as the Red Devils traveled to Crystal River following their season opening win over PK Yonge. 

    The Pirates wasted little time getting on the score board Sept. 7, as they returned the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown. The PAT was good, giving the Pirates a 7-0 lead, on their way to a 48-21 win. 

    The Red Devils did little to help themselves following a quick turnover deep in Pirate territory, as they fumbled the second play from scrimmage giving the football back to the Pirates.

  • Lady Red Devils fall in home...

    Following a great performance in the Slam Jam Tournament and two district road games the Lady Red Devils opened their first home game of the season. The Lady Red Devils hosted the Keystone Lady Indians Sept. 6 in the newly renovated Williston Gym. 

    The Lady Red Devils entered the game at 1-1 with a district win over Dixie County and a district loss at Santa Fe. 

    Coming in to this district match the Lady Indians were 1-0.

  • Season opening win

    With a short roster of just 24 players and at least six starters nursing nagging injuries from ankles to concussions to hand injuries, the Red Devils traveled to PK Yonge on Aug. 31.

    The Red Devil defense took just 10 seconds to record their first turnover of the season. Following a kickoff by Jorge Deciderio, Red Devil Tyus Williams recovered the Blue Wave’s fumble on the attempted return.
