Our winter has been unusually warm with very little freezing temperatures and no lengthy periods of cold weather.

This will create a bit of confusion for the fish and their normal patterns of habitat. When normally the fish have found deeper waters, ran up into the rivers and off the flats or just found muddy bottoms around docks or shorelines, they now are acting more like they would if it were already spring or even fall.

  • Road to the finals was narrow

After the Red Devils won their Regional Quarter-final game over South Sumter and Fort White won their quarter-final game against Mount Dora last week, the two teams would meet for their fourth time in seven weeks, and three times in the last four weeks.

The Indians won the first regular season match up, but the Red Devils took the second match up.

Then the two teams met at Fort White for the District Championship and the Red Devils took this game in overtime winning the District Championship.

  • Lady Red Devils fall in extra...

On a very cold, damp and chilly Friday night, the Lady Red Devil softball team played the Keystone Lady Indians to a 2-2 tie after seven innings of regulation play.

The Lady Red Devils took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning as Leticia Coronado drove home a run with a double hit sharply up the middle. The Lady Indians wasted little time as they tied the game in the third inning at 1-1 after loading the bases.

Neither team could add to their score in the fourth, fifth, or sixth inning as both teams played good defense.

  • Red Devils dump Sumter in...

The depth and future of Red Devil Basketball under Head Coach Steve Faulkner was certainly evident in the Red Devils’ win over the South Sumter Raiders 71-54, before a packed Red Devil Gym Feb. 14.

The Red Devils fell behind 2-0 before Tre Wilson banged in a 3-point basket to put the Red Devils in the lead.

It was a lead the Red Devils would not give up, despite starters Wilson and Earl Brown going to the bench early in the first quarter, with two personal fouls.

  • District Champs

It was certainly no easy task that faced the 2012-2013 Williston Red Devil Basketball team.

The Red Devils finished as the regular season district runner-up  with a 7-3 record, splitting games with Fort White, Bradford and Santa Fe in the District 4A regular season. Fort White, after acquiring three transfer players for this season, finished in first place and hosted the district playoffs.

After Santa Fe downed Interlachen, and Bradford took down Keystone Heights on  Feb. 5, it was time for the district semifinals.
