  • Fire-less Williston retains Levy...

    Williston coach Jamie Baker had trouble getting his team fired up to play winless Chiefland before Friday's battle for the Levy Cup trophy. Chiefland coach Jim O'Neal had trouble trying to keep his team punched in when the Red Devils began pulling away en route to a 42-13 victory in Wayne Pridgeon Stadium.

    "We're Chiefland! Play like Chiefland!" O'Neal shouted to his players late in the third quarter.

  • Lady Red Devils win big on...

    The Williston Lady Red Devil Volleyball team celebrated their 2011 Senior Night by honoring six seniors.  

    The Lady Red Devils were matched against the Bronson Eagles. The six seniors were featured in game one of the match as the seniors took game one 25-17. 

    The six seniors, Samantha Hall, Jennifer Matthews, Rea Samuels, Ericka Floyd, Haley Beckham and Katie Casperson played together for the first time this season.

  • WMS ends football season with...

    The Williston Middle School Red Devils traveled to Bronson Tuesday night Oct. 18, to end their 2011 football season. The weather and the Red Devils had something in common as the game got underway. The rain showers began to fall as the Red Devils took over the football after forcing the Eagles to punt. It was then Hardee time, as Red Devil Keith Hardee slipped around the end and raced 56 yards for a Red Devil touchdown. Hardee then slipped in to the end zone on the 2-point PAT lifting the Red Devils to a quick 8-0 lead.

  • Bronson Senior Night

    It was just one week ago, the Williston Lady Red Devil Volleyball team hosted the Bronson Lady Eagles and celebrated their Senior night with a match win in straight games. Fast forward to Thursday night Oct. 20, to the Bronson gym, where the Lady Eagles were hosting the Lady Red Devils for their Senior night celebration:

  • Strong second half by Indians...

    On Oct. 14, as the air in Fort White turned from warm to very cool, the same thing happened to the Williston Red Devil football team in the second half of a match up between two teams with identical 3-2 season records.
    The game got under way as the warm sun drenched field spilled over to both teams’ defenses. Each team had three straight 3-and-out possessions as the defenses stood tall for both teams.

  • Ruth Rains takes down middle...

    The Ruth Rains Middle School football team paid a visit to Booster Stadium Oct. 4 to take on the Williston Middle School Red Devils.
    The Rangers came into the contest with a perfect 2-0 record after having a game canceled due to stormy weather.
    Neither team was able to get anything started in the early going as the first quarter ended in 0-0 tie.
    As the second quarter got under way, Rangers quarterback Aaron Thomas hit a wide open Jontavious Paige for a completed pass down to the Red Devil 25-yard line.

    Bubble gum is essential for Chiefland volleyball coach Tammy Arrington anytime her team plays Williston. On Thursday in the Chiefland High gymnasium, she nervously chewed and chewed and chewed as her Lady Indians edged the Lady Red Devils 3-2 with a thrilling 15-13 win in the final game.
    So how many pieces of gum did she chew during the two-plus hours of volleyball?
    "One," Arrington said with a laugh. "And this one here is about shot so I need another one!

  • Trenton Tigers run past Bronson...


    The Bronson Eagles’ football team came into Friday’s 48-0 loss against the Trenton Tigers with a long list of experienced players sidelined with injuries. Five starters were out for the Eagles. The Tigers were sporting a perfect record and had just returned starting running back Brandon Stone to the lineup. The Eagles were forced to start six freshmen to fill in for the injured players.
    The Eagles’ fumbled the opening kickoff and the Tigers never looked back as Stone raced into the end zone for three touchdowns in the first six minutes.

  • Red Devils show heart, erase...

    It was a very strong Wildwood Wildcat team that took their home field in Wildwood Sept. 30.
    The Wildcats had run off three straight wins after dropping their season opener to hold a 3-1 record.
    After making the journey to Wildwood the Williston Red Devils, 2-2 on the season, faced a very hard hitting Wildcat team. Many of the Wildcat hits were a bit late and their tackles were assisted by the help of jerking on the Red Devils face masks.
