  • Red Devils fall to 3-2 in...

    It was five quick 3-point baskets by the Santa Fe Raiders on Friday night Dec.21, that put the Red Devils in an early hole that they just could not climb out of.

    Santa Fe dropped in five first quarter 3-point baskets to hold onto an early 19-16 lead as the first quarter of the District game came to an end.

    In the second quarter, the 3-point basket failed to fall for the Raiders, as David Heinkel and Damien Strange found the range for the Red Devils as they helped to pull the Red Devils to within one point of the Raiders at half time, 27-26.

    It was a normal outing with his grandfather, John, when Dalton McGowan went exploring in the woods just northeast of Williston two weeks ago. 

    Dalton had gone to the woods many times in his 14 years but this venture will forever be stuck in his mind and surely included in tales told for years to come.

     Wilson wills Red Devils to district win

    It was a night that Red Devil fans were treated to big time Red Devil Basketball. The Williston varsity team hosted district foe, the Bradford Tornadoes, led by their 6’ 10” 250 pound center Justin McBride.

    The Red Devils got off to a cold shooting night as they missed five easy lay ups in the first quarter alone as the Tornadoes skirted out to a 17-12 lead as quarter one ended.

  • Red Devils suffer district loss

    On Tuesday night Dec. 4, the Williston Red Devils hosted the Fort White Indians. The Red Devils started off slow and played catch up basketball through out the game as they were being whistled for fouls on defense and creating turnovers on offense.

  • Defense shuts down Lady Indians

    Chiefland’s Lady Indians wasted little time last week when they took on Williston’s Red Devils in Williston. The Lady  Indians jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead on three quick baskets by Haley Hammonds.
    As the first quarter continued the Lady Red Devils Precious Williams drained a 3-point basket to wake up the Lady Red Devils. The turnovers by both teams began to mount, as the Lady Red Devils took control and pulled out to a 11-6 lead as the first quarter ended.

    Red Devils move to 3-0 2-0 in District
    Friday, Nov. 30, the Williston Varsity Basketball team improved its season record to 3-0 and downed the Keystone Heights Indians in district play, moving the team to 2-0 in the district.
    Coming off the road with a 10- point win over district foe Interlachen, the Red Devils were playing their season home opener against the Indians. The Red Devils scorched the Indians in the first half behind 18 first half points by Earl Brown and 4-4 3-point baskets by Damien Strange to take a 45-21 halftime lead.

    December has arrived already and with cooler water temperatures and more stable weather patterns anglers should be excited. The unpredictable conditions we see every year during the Hurricane Season have come to a halt starting in November when the tropics settled down.

  • Williston shuts down Newberry 79...

    With some of there varsity basketball players still with the gridiron team in the state playoffs, the Newberry Panthers opened their 2012-13 basketball season by hosting the Williston Red Devils.
    The Red Devils wasted little time, and got off to a quick start against the under manned Panthers.
    The Red Devil offense was on display in the first half of the game as they coasted to a 46-30 half time lead even though they began to substitute early in the game.

  • CJ James to play in bowl game

    Former Red Devil Carl CJ James  has been chosen to play wide receiver in the upcoming All American Bowl in Minneapolis, Minn. Dec. 22.J
    James has been playing his college football at Livingstone College in Minneapolis.
    All players are chosen by the All American Bowl committee after being nominated by their college coach. The game will be played at the Mall of America Field at the Metredome, home of the Minnesota Vikings.

  • Alumni baseball game is Feb. 2

    The Williston High School Baseball Boosters will host the Annual WHS Baseball Alumni Day Feb. 2, 2013.
    Featured events for the Alumni Day will include a baseball game between recent alums, a homerun derby and an “Old Timers” softball game.
     Anyone who played baseball for Williston High School is invited and encouraged to attend and participate.
