    The Red Devils’ basketball season tipped off last week as they traveled to Buccholz High School to take on the hometown Bobcats. Williston started the game off ice cold but the team was able to rally as it staged a furious comeback in the second half.

    In heartbreaking fashion the undefeated Red Devils dropped their final game 22-20 to Lake Butler. The Bulldogs stopped the Red Devils on the one yard line on the extra two point conversion attempt for the tie with 13 seconds left in the game to preserve the victory. The Red Devils were in the Championship game for the third year in a row, defeating Bradford in 2012 and losing to Bradford in 2013.

    The Red Devils hit the road last Thursday to take on Chiefland as the two teams played for the coveted Levy Cup. Despite a strong effort by the team’s offense, Williston fell short by a score of 34-24 as Chiefland racked up five touchdowns.

    The Red Devils were back in action last week as they squared off against Lakeland Christian inside Booster Stadium. The energy in the stands was buzzing with excitement for this year’s homecoming game as prior and current generations got together to support Williston football.

    The game didn’t go as planned on the field as Williston lost 38-7, but the homecoming spirit shone through on what was a special night for the students involved.

  • WMS No. 1 seed in tournament

    For the second time in three years, Williston Middle School will be the #1 seed and will host the SMAC Football Championship Game Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.

    Last season Williston was in the championship but was the #2 seed and had to play at Bradford. Defeating Lake Butler on their home field 28-14 has the Red Devils 3-0 in the SMAC (4-0 overall) with only Fort White left on their conference schedule.
