  • Cassie Lozier wins at Bronson...

     

    Fans at Bronson Speedway saw 14-year-old Cassie Lozier of Cedar Key win her first Strictly Stock Feature Event Sat night. Lozier who started outside pole, is the youngest competitor to strap into a Strictly Stock at Bronson Speedway. 

  • District Champs – Again!

     

    The Williston Red Devils are looking for a repeat of last year's State Championship and may be well on their way, as they clinched the District title last week by defeating in-county rivals, the Chiefland Indians 2-1. Austin Langworthy recorded 14 strikeouts in the game that saw the Distict trophy come back to Williston again. The Red Devils (24-2) will take on Crescent City (8-12) Tuesday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in a regional semifinal game on the home field.

    The Red Devils’ basketball season tipped off last week as they traveled to Buccholz High School to take on the hometown Bobcats. Williston started the game off ice cold but the team was able to rally as it staged a furious comeback in the second half.

The Bulldogs stopped the Red Devils on the one yard line on the extra two point conversion attempt for the tie with 13 seconds left in the game to preserve the victory. The Red Devils were in the Championship game for the third year in a row, defeating Bradford in 2012 and losing to Bradford in 2013.

    The Red Devils hit the road last Thursday to take on Chiefland as the two teams played for the coveted Levy Cup. Despite a strong effort by the team’s offense, Williston fell short by a score of 34-24 as Chiefland racked up five touchdowns.
