  • Red Devils fall to No. 1 Union County

    On Friday night Oct. 28, the Williston Red Devils traveled to the No. 1 State ranked Union County Tigers at Lake Butler.
    The Red Devils showed up strong in the first quarter after the Tigers took the opening kickoff and drove in the end zone from 24 yards out. The Tigers jumped to a 7-0 lead and made it look like it would be a long night for Red Devil fans.
    The Red Devil defense held the Tigers to a fourth down and five at their 15- yard line forcing a field goal try by the Tigers. The 28- yard kick went wide right as the score remained 7-0.

  • Strong second half by Indians topples Red Devils 35-20

    On Oct. 14, as the air in Fort White turned from warm to very cool, the same thing happened to the Williston Red Devil football team in the second half of a match up between two teams with identical 3-2 season records.
    The game got under way as the warm sun drenched field spilled over to both teams’ defenses. Each team had three straight 3-and-out possessions as the defenses stood tall for both teams.

  • Trenton Tigers run past Bronson Eagles 48-0


    The Bronson Eagles’ football team came into Friday’s 48-0 loss against the Trenton Tigers with a long list of experienced players sidelined with injuries. Five starters were out for the Eagles. The Tigers were sporting a perfect record and had just returned starting running back Brandon Stone to the lineup. The Eagles were forced to start six freshmen to fill in for the injured players.
    The Eagles’ fumbled the opening kickoff and the Tigers never looked back as Stone raced into the end zone for three touchdowns in the first six minutes.

  • Lady Red Devils win Bell tourney

    The Lady Red Devil Volleyball team took a convincing championship win over the weekend at the Bell Invitational Tournament.
    The Lady Devils knocked off the Bell Bulldogs on Friday evening and took care of Hamilton County and Columbia County on Saturday to move into the championship game against a very good Chiefland Team.
    The Lady Devils took the match downing the Lady Indians for the first place championship trophy.
    On Sept. 19, the Lady Devils returned to district action as they hosted the Santa Fe Lady Raiders.

  • Lady Eagles rally to stay perfect

    Bronson rallied from two sets down to beat Bell 3-2 in varsity volleyball action on Thursday.
    The Lady Eagles were led by Melissa Nutt. She took over as server with her team trailing 14-12 in the third match and reeled off 13 consecutive points to send her team into celebration mode. Nutt then served to start the fourth match, and had Bronson up 11-1 before she was done. Bronson won the fourth and then the tiebreaker, 15-8, to stay unbeaten at 4-0 on the season.

  • Warrior second half comeback stuns Red Devils

    The Nassau West Warriors from Callahan, near Jacksonville, made the two and one half hour drive  paying a visit to Booster Stadium on Friday night Sept. 16.
    The Warriors, under Head Coach George Nelson, brought a 1-1 early season record to take on the 1-1 Red Devils. The Warriors have been led this season by a strong running game from their mostly senior squad.
    The Red Devil fans were treated to a tremendous first half performance by the Red Devils as they took an 18-0 lead shutting the Warriors running game down on several key series.

  • Lady Red Devils continue improvement

     Following the loss to a scrappy Union County team in their season opener, the Lady Devils have reeled off three straight wins.
    The Fort White Lady Indians became the third victim of a vastly improving Lady Devil Volleyball team on Sept. 8 at the Williston gym.
    The Lady Devils took the District match in four games behind outstanding play in all but one game. In game one Ericka Floyd and Rea Samuels led the charge with several timely saves and each had two tremendous blocks at the net.

  • JV rolls over Wildwood Wildcats 50-20

       The Williston JV Football team led by a group of talented players raised their early season record to 2-0 as they rolled over the Wildwood Wildcats 50-20 Sept. 8 at Booster Stadium.
    There was a large crowd on hand to watch the Red Devils waste little time in getting on the scoreboard early and often.
    The Red Devils jumped out to a 22-6 lead as the first quarter ended. Each team was able to add another touchdown in a slow moving second quarter as the Red Devils took a 28-12 half time lead.

  • Lady Tigers sweep Lady Red Devils in season opener

    It started off with the Junior Varsity Lady Tigers from Union County taking two straight exciting games from the Lady Red Devil Junior Varsity, 25-23 and 26-24 to win their match.
    But the teams from Union County were not finished yet.
    The Varsity Ladies were opening their regular season play this past Monday night  at the Williston gym.
    The Lady Red Devils jumped out to big early leads in the first two games only to have the determined Lady Tigers make rapid come- from-behind-wins to take an early 2 game to 0 lead in the match.

  • Chiefland claims season opening tourney

    Chiefland’s Lady Indians came out on top when the four Levy County ladies’ volleyball teams met last Thursday in the season kickoff.
    The winner was determined in a round robin as the winner was determined from the best of three games.
    The Lady Indians were pitted against the Williston Lady Red Devils and the Cedar Key Lady Sharks faced the Bronson Lady Eagles.
    The Lady Red Devils started strong in game one. Haley Beckham spread five kill shots and Chelsea Dola played a strong game at the net as the Lady Red Devils took game one 25-16.
