  • Red Devils even record at 3-3

    The Williston Red Devil Baseball team traveled to Ft. White on Friday evening March 4 to take on District foe Ft. White.
    The Red Devils won the game in 9 innings 4-3.
    This win moved the Red Devils to 2-1 in district play and 3-3 over all for the young season.
    Connor Clayton got the win for the Red Devils as he came in to relieve starting pitcher Justin Baker after seven innings.
    Baker recorded  12 strike outs in his seven innings on the mound.

  • Red Devil Challenge starts Monday

    The Williston 7th Annual Red Devil Baseball Challenge is just around the corner.
    The tournament will be held March 14-16 at the Williston City Field.
    Monday, March 14
    Game 1- Trinity Catholic vs. West Port       1 p.m.
    Game 2-  Citrus     vs. Ocala Forest        4 p.m.
    Game 3- Williston     vs. Ocala Forest      7 p.m.

  • End of the Road

    The Williston Red Devils sent The Villages packing in the regional quarterfinal, then the Santa Fe Raiders in the semifinals after having the game moved to Bronson, then came the regional finals, again moved to Bronson.
    But it was there the  Red Devils  came up short, losing to Orlando Jones Saturday night  in the last 22 seconds.

  • Red Devils take down Colts in OT

      In a re-match from the Kingdom of the Sun Tournament game won by the North Marion Colts, Thursday night Feb. 3, was a different game with a different outcome.
    “I feel like our team gained some mental toughness tonight,” said Williston Head Coach Steve Faulkner following his teams 81-75 win in overtime over the 4A North Marion Colts.
    “Those two missed free throws at the end of regulation time were really big” Faulkner said.

  • Williston builds momentum with third win in three days

    OCALA – It was a momentum-building type of weekend for the Williston boys basketball team.
    The Red Devils, playing in the Vince Murray Memorial Challenge last Saturday at Trinity Catholic, demolished perennial state powerhouse Florida Air, 74-52.
    It was Williston's third win in three straight days against teams with solid winning records.

  • Lady Red Devils Softball set to ‘chase their dream’

    The 14 Williston High School varsity softball team members will start the defense of their 2010 District and Regional Championships and hope to return to the State Final Four this season with a different result.
    For the seven seniors and several returning juniors, this is the season to complete the long awaited journey to a state championship victory.

  • Red Devils even regular season district; down SF

    The game started and continued Thursday evening Jan. 27, for the Santa Fe Raiders as the CJ Wakeley and Ashton Lee show.
    But the end result was a Williston team effort that lifted the Red Devils to a smashing 82-63 district win.
    Wakeley’s 27 points and Lee’s 23 points accounted for all but 13 points for the Raiders on the night.
    The Red Devils on the other hand were putting 4 players in double figures and crashing the boards, while dropping in 3-point baskets the entire game at key times.

  • Diamond Red Devils look for standard of excellence

    The 2011 Red Devil Varsity Baseball team “is a young team with a very sour taste in their mouths from last season,” said Head Coach Jim Smith. “We just are not used to sitting at home when the state playoffs are going on.”
    Smith was referring to the 2010 Red Devil team that failed to make the playoffs for the first time in eight seasons.
    This is the motivation tool for the seven returning varsity players that have a ton of talent and gained a lot of valuable experience last season.

  • Red Devils move to 3-0 in district play

    Following the holidays and a rough couple of tournament games, the Williston varsity boy’s basketball team took the win over district foe Newberry 63-47 Tuesday night Jan. 4, at the Williston gym.
    The Red Devils looked like a team on a mission as they jumped out to an early 8-0 lead before the Panthers found the basket.
    The Red Devils were led by sophomore Tre Wilson with 14 first half points as the Red Devils went up and down the floor the entire first half. The Red Devils held a 41-22 lead at the half time break.

  • Red Devils fall out of KOS tourney

    It was the losers bracket on Tuesday, Dec. 28, and the Williston Red Devils who was defeated by North Marion was matched against the Tourney host Vanguard Knights, who fell to PK Yonge.

    Again the Red Devils started off cold and managed just 9 first quarter points to trail the Knights 16-9.

    The defense picked up for the Red Devils and shots began to fall in a slow moving second quarter as the Red Devils pulled up to tie the game at intermission 29-29.
