  • Red Devils go flat at Union County

The Williston Red Devil football team ran into a group of fired up Tigers Friday night in Lake Butler. This Tiger’s name was Union County, and you could certainly say a defensive juggernaut.
The Red Devils were held to a mere 150 total yards of offense and just one touchdown in the 28-7 loss to the Tigers.
The Tigers were coming off four straight losses, but you would never have guessed it by the way they simply dominated the entire game from start to finish.

  • Homecoming Victory

It was homecoming night at Booster Stadium, and the Newberry Panthers had only one thing in mind–spoil the night for Williston.
But the Red Devils had other plans after falling behind early in the second half as the Panthers scored the go ahead touchdown following a Red Devil kick off fumble.
The Red Devils had to answer twice with scoring drives. The last drive concluded with just 52 seconds remaining in the game as Dontrell Edwards scampered 22 yards for the winning touchdown, giving the Red Devils a 32-27 win.

  • Red Devils fall to 2-2 in district; playoff hopes gone

After starting out 2-0 in district play, the Williston Red Devils hopes for a runner up spot where soundly ended Friday night, Oct. 29 at Mount Dora.

  • Lady Red Devils pull out Senior Night win

The Williston Lady Red Devil were forced to go the distance on their Senior Night Thursday, Oct. 21, against the Bronson Lady Eagles.
The Lady Eagles opened up the match by taking two of the first three games against a Lady Red Devil team that was insistent on beating themselves.
Game one was tied at 12-12 when the Lady Eagles stretched their lead to 19-13 on aggressive play by Brittany Smith and Ashley Mickel. The Lady Eagles went on to win game one 25-15.

  • OUCH!

For the sixth straight year the Trinity Catholic Celtics Football team downed the Williston Red Devils. Playing in the same district this season, the Celtics moved their record to 4-0 in district play and 8-0 overall.
“It is what it is” said Red Devil Head Coach Jamie Baker following his teams 59-13 loss, their first in the district this season.
Dropping to 2-1 in district play and 4-3 overall Baker continued. “They are a really good football team. This is the worst they have beaten us since I’ve been coaching here.”

  • Chiefland rallies to beat Williston in volleyball

The volleyball match was about two very different teams showing up for each game Monday night at the Red Devil gym.

The Lady Indians of Chiefland started game 1 having trouble with their serves, and they seemed to be moving in slow motion. But, by the end of the match, after falling behind two games to none, these same Lady Indians seemed to find a new gear.

  • Bronson falls to St. Joseph Academy

ST. AUGUSTINE -- Quintell Coleman ran the opening kickoff back 90 yards, but that was one of the few bright spots for Bronson in a 51-12 loss to St. Joseph Academy’s football team Friday night.

Coleman caught a 43-yard TD pass before halftime, making the score a respectable 22-12 at the break. But the Flashes exploded for 29 points in the third period and that set up a running clock to finish the game.

St. Joe rushed for 290 yards, while Bronson ran for just 37.

  • Red Devils bruise Bulldogs

Just as the Williston Red Devils appear to be putting their offense and defense together, they now face a bye week before continuing their quest for a District Championship.
The Red Devils made the long journey down to Umatilla Friday night Oct. 8, to face an improving Bulldog team.
Had it not have been for a second quarter 24-yard field goal by the Bulldogs, the Red Devil defense would have come away with a shut out in their 43-3 district win.

  • Williston spoils Bronson's volleyball senior night

Bronson High School's volleyball team was playing with a vengeance on its senior night last Thursday, but Williston held fast to spoil the party in five games, winning 23-25, 25-14, 18-25, 29-27, 15-11.
The Eagles came out on a roll, opening the match with inspired performances, led by Brittany Smith (five kills in Game 1) and Ashley Mickle (two big blocks) to take a 13-7 lead. The Red Devils battled back, narrowing the game to 18-15 with two aces from Katie Casperson. But Bronson held off to take the first game off a Williston service error.

  • Girls fall

On Tuesday night, some of the fans who made their way to the Red Devil Gym for the JV Volleyball match were surprised, there was no game. In a scheduling problem the Lady Mustangs JV failed to show for the match.
