Warrant leads to drug stash

Staff Report

Two people were arrested Monday morning on drug charges after a Levy County deputy became suspicious while serving a Violation of Probation warrant at the Bronson Motel.

K-9 Deputy Kevin Kinik held the outstanding warrant on Johnny Lee Patterson. The VOP warrant stemmed from charges of dealing in stolen property and burglary. 

You can’t see Williston for the trees

A tree may grow in Brooklyn but in Williston there’s a proliferation in the triangle located in front of McDonald’s off U.S. 27A.

Two weeks ago, the property owned by the Florida Department of Transportation, went under a major facelift when the FDOT planted 80 trees on the 3/4 acre tract.

According to City Manager Scott Lippmann, the CRA had approached the FDOT a while back about beautifying the area but plans were shelved due to funding.

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

June 9, William Michael Carryer, 18, DWLS, leaving scene of crash, possession of marijuana, drug law violation. Bond $2,000.

June 7, Danny Cummings, 55, Inglis, battery, disorderly intoxication. Bond $2,500.

June 6, Larry Devonte Debose, 21, Williston, resisting W/OV. Bond $2,000.

June 4, Lance Everett Frier, 43, McAlpin, FTA. 

Council divided on rec funds

For over seven months $10,000 that was allocated for recreation scholarships has sat untouched in the city of Williston’s coffers.

County employees get raise

It has been five long years, but county workers will see a 3 percent pay raise in the checks they receive on June 20.
