Levy County Sheriff's Reports

The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

May 16, Joseph Anderson, 30, Newberry, DUI and serious bodily injury to another. Bond $40,000.

May 16, Ryan Kent Beach, 29, Fanning Springs, fleeing, robbery with a firearm. Bond $525,000.

May 14, Stephanie Ann Carlisle, 20, Bronson, VOP. Bond $10,000.

May 18, J.D. Crawford, 46, Cedar Key, DUI.

May 18, Paul Douglas Creswell, 43, Orlando, battery. Bond $10,000.

I turned around and suddenly he was a man

 It was just about this time of year 23 years ago that I was struck with a fast and unusual malaise.

I didn’t think a lot about it. I was a mother of two, ages 5 and 7, and working two jobs so it was only natural I was always fatigued.

Commission chair questions Williston tax office

Tax Collector Linda Fugate came before the Levy County Commission on Tuesday asking for a resolution authorizing her to conduct county business at satellite offices in Chiefland.

But before it was over — and she did get the resolution passed on a 4-1 vote — she got more than she bargained for as County Commission Chair Ryan Bell of Chiefland (R-District 4), who cast the dissenting vote,  questioned the construction costs.

City rec scholarships go untouched

Last year when interim City Manager Oel Wingo was preparing the current city budget, she allocated $10,000 to be allocated in the form of recreational use scholarships.

The intent was for the money to be used to help defray the registration costs associated with organized sports for any youth who is a city resident who had a genuine financial need, and who might otherwise not be able to afford to play.

More Crabfest arrests made

After reviewing videos and photographs taken at Williston’s Crabfest April 27, Levy County law enforcement agents discovered that at least one more incident was occurring simultaneously with the shooting that left one man dead.

May 2, Brett Byers, 41, St. Petersburg, DWLSR. Bond $500.

April 20, Armand R. Campanile, 53, Sanford, out of county warrant. Bond $500.

May 5, Franklin D. Clark, 75, Tampa, DWLSR.

April 29, Larry Joe Colson, 39, Suwannee, out of county warrant. Bond $3,500.

May 5, Nichole Michelle Fain, 36, Inglis, grand theft.
