Today's Opinions

  • Before you diet, look at the date

I learned a long time ago that any day God sees fit to let you crawl out of bed in the morning is a good time to resolve to make changes in your life.
That’s why I’v never put too much stock in New Year’s resolutions. I’ve resolved in March to lose weight. I’ve resolved in July to exercise more. I’ve resolved in September to be a gentler spirit.
But somehow Jan. 1 always signals the advent of a clean slate, a time to start  (or finish) something.

  • Shouldn't the punishment fit the crime?

It's encouraging to know that after years of doing nothing, absolutely nothing, to enforce the codes it has on the  books regarding buildings and property, the city of Williston is finally taking a step in the right direction and taking some action to correct wrongs.

  • Thanks for caring

    To the editor:

I want to extend a sincere thank you from myself and my family to all of you for your prayers, flowers, cards, and expressions of concern during my recent hospital stay.

By the grace of God, I am at home and becoming stronger each day. Your good wishes remind me daily of the power of prayer and the value of loving and supportive family and friends.

  • Letter to the Editor

    To the editor,

Reading the article about the JROTC lacking funding just gets me pretty annoyed.

I believe the JROTC is a great program in teaching the young adults leadership and trying to mold them into responsible adults.

My son attended the JROTC and enrolled in the military after graduation, along with many high school friends.

And for that we are very grateful to the JROTC. There is a great need for this program to offer the young generation a chance to get an education and have a career to shape their lives.

     I

've known Freda most of my life. Her mother, Frances, drove me to kindergarten every day when I was five. However, it wasn't until I was a freshman in high school and we had a class together that I really got to know her.
