  • Holiday Hope needs your help

    To the editor:
Everyone is talking about no Toys for Tots in Levy County this year, but Holiday Hope is still here and has been for over 30 years.
Holiday Hope, Inc.  is a  non-profit organization in the Williston area that is supported by Williston businesses and community members who either choose to shop for their designated child's gift request or donate money, so others can do the shopping.

  • Something to be thankful for

    To the editor:
I am a mother who lost her job at Walmart after five years. I am on unemployment, working trying hard to make ends meet. I  already told my children that Christmas would have to wait. My son, who is 10,  teared up. He said, “Don’t worry, Mom. It’s not about the gifts.”
Later that day I rounded up change to buy diapers for my daughter and my grandson. My son went  with me. I was short a dollar.

  • Thanks for successful Veterans Day festivities

     To the editor:

  • Walk for Life a success

    To the editor:
Tri-County Pregnancy Center would like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Walk for Life.
A special thank you to our business sponsors, Perkins State Bank, Levy Animal Clinic, Williston General Dentistry, The Ivy House, Tri-County Oil Distributors, Williston Lion’s Club, Stephen Bird Insurance, Williston Farm Supply, Plumbing By Charlie and Frank and Mary Jean Bullock (Bullock Farms).

  • Reason to celebrate

    To the editor:
Tuesday night the supporters of Obama went to the Island Room for dinner and drinks and got a chance to view election returns.
Since the returns were not conclusive, they retired to the home of two members of the group and were pleased to see the campaign go very quickly for Obama.
The final acceptance speech was not ready until 2 a.m. What a strong finish Obama had! He spoke of hope, working together and being the President of the United States, of all the people, whether they voted for him or not.

  • Florida's election tally a disgrace

    To the editor:
It is an absolute disgrace that once again Florida leads the entire nation including states whose polls closed much later than Florida, in the inability to produce election results in a timely and reasonable fashion.
The Secretary of State who has been placed in their position like Katherine Harris awhile back, and the governors (currently Republican Rick Scott) who appointed them are solely responsible for this disgrace which could have been foreseen.
Come on Florida.  We can do better than this.

  • Schools Foundation says ‘thanks’

     To the editor:

  • Hospital care was exemplary

     To the editor:

I am writing to all the citizens of our wonderful town of Williston just to give my opinion of Tri-County Hospital.

My 96-year-old mother spent a week in the care of Dr. Martin and his efficient staff. The care was exemplary and  the staff was outstanding in their dilegent attention to my mother.

I think  we will have a hospital to be proud of and the future bodes well for the new  take over of ownership.

    Thank you.

  • WAG needs your help

    To the editor:
Williston Animal Group ( WAG) has saved the lives of nearly 3,000 dogs in our community.  Now it is time for the community to save the life of WAG.  Due to a greatly increased number of abandoned dogs, increased cost of food and medical treatments, WAG’s operating funds are rapidly being depleted.

  • Wake up, America

    To the editor:
President Obama and Vice President Biden have said repeatedly that the economy is slowly getting better and that  we have “turned the corner” and that we see a clear road ahead.
What they have failed to say is that the first thing they see on that road is a big yellow and black sign that says “Dead End.”
