  • Levy County Sheriff's Report

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    March 25, Timothy Wade Arnold, 36, Inglis, aggravated battery, tampering/harassing a witness, burglary. Bond $225,000.
    March 25, Christina Nicole Barwick, 36, Trenton, leaving scene of crash, DUI/damage to property, DUI. Bond $2,000.
    March 26, Larry Richard Bass, 34, Bronson, battery, with violence. Bond $60,000.
    March 25, Mark Edward Broat, 24, Williston, VOP.
    March 28, Crystal Bryant, 21, Morriston, battery, assault. Bond $20,000.

  • Bronson Town Council says no to old gym

    Bronson Town Council members voted 3-0 Monday night in favor of dropping proposed negotiations with the Levy County School Board about town use or ownership of the old Bronson High School Gym.

  • Rezoning passes on third try

    It took three tries, but despite the opposition of his neighbors developer Darryl Diamond won a 3-2 vote of the Levy County Commission to rezone four acres of property along U.S. Highway 19 near Inglis to allow the building of offices and a mini storage facility.

  • State Champs

     The  Williston Middle School FFA Livestock Judging Team dominated the state competition and walked away with a first place finish, earning it the honor of 2013 State Champs.

    The Levy County Fair Association has announced the following contests and competitions at the upcoming Fair:

  • Cattle donations will help child who needs heart

    A call is going out to all cattle owners asking them to part with an animal for a fundraising sale to benefit a teen who is awaiting a heart transplant at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.
    Angus Standridge, 13, is hospitalized and his ailing heart is being helped by a Berlin Heart Pump. The pump is an external device connected by tubes to Standridge’s heart to help it move blood while he waits for a new heart.

  • Jones-Etheridge to exchange May vows

    Brad and Christine Jones of Williston announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Julia Charlsie, to Daniel Douglas Etheridge, son of Darryl and Linda Etheridge of Williston.
    The bride-elect is a graduate of Southern College with a bachelor’s degree in business management. She is employed with First National Bank in Ocala.
    The future groom is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in business finance. He is employed with Drummond Community Bank.

  • Jones-Etheridge to exchange May vows

  • County’s health improves

     The health of Levy County has begun to improve, according to the fourth annual County Health Rankings & Roadmaps, which was released March 20 by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  These community rankings provide a snapshot of the health of nearly every county in all 50 states, pinpoint areas to improve and foster conversation around health topics.

  • Three will be sworn in Tuesday

    Jack Screws, Elihu Ross and Cal Byrd will take their oaths of office Tuesday night during the investiture ceremony for Williston City Council.
