  • Courts hand down sentences

    Levy County courts disposed of the following cases April 16, April 23, April 24, May 7, May 14:

    Vincent Louis Baker, VOP on destroying evidence, dismissed.  

    David Bezanson, possession of paraphernalia, 35 days with credit for 35 days served; possession of controlled substance, 35 days with credit for 35 days served, 24 months drug offender probation; served concurrently. must pay probation cost, civil judgment, jail fund.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • Oct. 30, Demi Ember Appling, 24, Old Town, DWLS. Bond $15,000.

    • Nov. 1, Johnnie Russell Arnett, 31, Lakeland, FTA. Bond $10,000.

    • Oct. 30, Bobby Leon Baker, 69, Inglis, FTA. ROR.

    • Oct. 27, Charles Anthony Baugh, 66, Bronson, out of county warrant. Bond $2,000.

    • Oct. 27, William E. Beck, 54, Wellborn, DUI. Bond $10,000.

  • Traylor, Wendlant exchange wedding vows

    Chelsea Allyse Traylor of Williston and Luke Edward Wendlandt of Carrollton, Ga. were joined together in marriage on Sept. 27.

    The bride is the daughter of Greg and Pam Traylor of Williston. The groom is the son of Jerold Wendlandt of Carrollton, Ga. and Darla Cross of Panama City.

    The couple resides in Gainesville.  

  • Levy stays red

    There may not be a lever on the electronic voting machines to pull to vote a “straight” party ticket, but that did not deter Levy County voters as they cast votes for Republican candidates in every office on the ballot in Tuesday's general election.

  • Two injured in Hwy. 27 crash

    Emergency personnel got to use their extrication skills when a two vehicle accident on Tuesday, Oct. 21, shortly after 12:30 p.m. at U.S. Highway 27 and County Road 335A trapped the occupants in the vehicles.

    • Oct. 21, Christopher Barron, 31, Chiefland, possession of marijuana.

    • Oct. 23, Kyle Bryan Bell, 19, Archer, burglary, grand larceny. Bond $150,000.

    • Oct. 26, Elbert Scott Bullard, 42, Cedar Key, battery.

    • Oct. 24, Robert James Carter, 22, Williston, burglary, grand theft. Bond $105,000.

     New representatives were crowned this past weekend.     In heartbreaking fashion the undefeated Red Devils dropped their final game 22-20 to Lake Butler. The Bulldogs stopped the Red Devils on the one yard line on the extra two point conversion attempt for the tie with 13 seconds left in the game to preserve the victory. The Red Devils were in the Championship game for the third year in a row, defeating Bradford in 2012 and losing to Bradford in 2013.
