  • WJWC plants Pinwheels for Prevention

    The Williston Junior Woman’s Club is taking part in Prevent Child Abuse Florida’s Pinwheels for Prevention campaign by planting a pinwheel garden at the Williston Woman’s club during the week of April 14-April 20.  The garden planting was held at the Williston Woman’s Club  Sunday, April 14.

  • Man charged with carjacking

    Staff Report

    An alleged carjacker was arrested April 11 after he crashed the vehicle he allegedly took from Hilltop Motel.

    According to Williston Police Chief Dennis Strow, police officers were responding to the report of the carjacking when they saw the stolen truck turning north on Main Street.

     The lawn mower is silent. There is no clanging of a hammer as it  beats against a machine, or nail, or tree. Palm fronds have fallen unceremoniously to the ground during the brisk March gusts and lay there yet as April comes into being with a promise of a hot summer.

  • Levy courts hand down sentences

    The following people were sentenced in Levy County courts during December 2012:
    Tanja C. Alston, VOP on aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, revoke and terminate probation, 27 months with credit for 177 days. Must pay civil judgment, jail fund, VOP cost.
    Zachary David Armlin, larceny between $300-$5,000, 3 counts of burglary, adjudication withheld on each, 24 months probation on each, served concurrently. Must pay probation cost.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    March 25, Timothy Wade Arnold, 36, Inglis, aggravated battery, tampering/harassing a witness, burglary. Bond $225,000.
    March 25, Christina Nicole Barwick, 36, Trenton, leaving scene of crash, DUI/damage to property, DUI. Bond $2,000.
    March 26, Larry Richard Bass, 34, Bronson, battery, with violence. Bond $60,000.
    March 25, Mark Edward Broat, 24, Williston, VOP.
    March 28, Crystal Bryant, 21, Morriston, battery, assault. Bond $20,000.
