  • Traylor, Wendlant exchange wedding vows

    Chelsea Allyse Traylor of Williston and Luke Edward Wendlandt of Carrollton, Ga. were joined together in marriage on Sept. 27.

    The bride is the daughter of Greg and Pam Traylor of Williston. The groom is the son of Jerold Wendlandt of Carrollton, Ga. and Darla Cross of Panama City.

    The couple resides in Gainesville.  

  • Two injured in Hwy. 27 crash

    Emergency personnel got to use their extrication skills when a two vehicle accident on Tuesday, Oct. 21, shortly after 12:30 p.m. at U.S. Highway 27 and County Road 335A trapped the occupants in the vehicles.

    • Oct. 21, Galdino De Jesus Araisa-Madera, 21, Morriston, public order crimes violation non-resident exemption driver’s license. Bond $500.

    • Oct. 21, Christopher Barron, 31, Chiefland, possession of marijuana.

    • Oct. 23, Kyle Bryan Bell, 19, Archer, burglary, grand larceny. Bond $150,000.

    • Oct. 26, Elbert Scott Bullard, 42, Cedar Key, battery.

    • Oct. 24, Robert James Carter, 22, Williston, burglary, grand theft. Bond $105,000.

    In heartbreaking fashion the undefeated Red Devils dropped their final game 22-20 to Lake Butler. The Bulldogs stopped the Red Devils on the one yard line on the extra two point conversion attempt for the tie with 13 seconds left in the game to preserve the victory. The Red Devils were in the Championship game for the third year in a row, defeating Bradford in 2012 and losing to Bradford in 2013.

  • Need a ride to vote

    Now through Tuesday, Nov. 4, any Levy County resident who needs transportation to the polls has access to free transportation.

    Tammy Jones, supervisor of elections, has partnered with Levy County Transit to make sure anyone who wants to vote has a ride to the voting booth.

    Early voting takes place at the supervisor’s office in Bronson through Saturday, Nov. 1. On Tuesday, you must vote in your home precinct. Call Levy County Transit at 352-486-3485 to make your reservation.

    With two county commission races on the ballot, a hotly contested governor's race, a constitutional amendment to allow medical marijuana and a local referendum to allow the Levy County Commission to grant tax breaks to new and expanding businesses, voters are casting ballots in high numbers.

  • Indians keep Levy Cup as Red Devils go down 34-24

    The Red Devils hit the road last Thursday to take on Chiefland as the two teams played for the coveted Levy Cup. Despite a strong effort by the team’s offense, Williston fell short by a score of 34-24 as Chiefland racked up five touchdowns.
