  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    Dawn M. Bremer, 39, Northeast 61st Lane, Bronson, was charged with DUI after the sheriff's office received a call about a possible intoxicated person, according to the deputy's report. Deputy Dave Rodriguez's report says when he arrived at Tony's Chevron on North Hathaway Avenue a woman carrying a 24-pack of beer stumbled and bumped into him.

    According to the report he could smell the odor of alcohol on her and he followed her out of the store and as she drive out of the lot.

    He stopped her at Hathaway and Main streets for making an improper turn.

  • Williston Police Reports

    The Williston Police Dept. reports the following arrests:

    * Mark Richard Billings, 27, of Northeast 124th Terrace, Williston, was charged with DUI after being stopped for weaving on the road.

    * Macario Solis Herrera, 31, of Southeast 5th Terrace, Williston, was charged with disorderly intoxication and breach of peace after he was pounding on the door of a house on Northeast 1st Avenue. He could not tell the officer where he lived.

  • Couple arrested on drug charges

    A Williston area couple have been arrested on a variety of drug charges by the Levy County Drug Task Force after a months-long investigation into drug dealing.

  • Joyce Bullock portables to be replaced

    BRONSON - With the site and design approval for a new structure, Joyce Bullock Elementary School is hoping to put a dent in the six portable structures sitting on the south side of its sprawling campus.

    The Levy County School Board members OK'd the plans for a 11,700-square-foot building that will house eight classrooms.

    The exact cost of the new building - a combination of the design talents of Paul Stresing and Associates along with M.M. Parish Construction - has yet to be determined.

    New Life Temple Fellowship Inc. presents the annual High Compassion High Community Awareness Day on Saturday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Southeast 10th Street, behind the A&S Store.

  • Wild observations

    I've been writing this column for a long time, and some weeks I think, "there's nothing to write about." Then I sit down, usually on Fridays, to put my nature observations down in a column format, and three pages later-well, nothing has become something.

  • Stuff the Bus on Aug.30

    Folks are always reminded to "watch out" for school buses when the school year first begins. However, officials with the Levy County Schools Foundation hope you will keep an "eye out" for the big yellow buses for another important reason.

    A Foundation project called "Stuff the Bus" is under way throughout the county. On Saturday, Aug. 30, school buses will be parked at the following locations for residents to stuff the vehicles with school supplies from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

    Williston: Hitchcock's Foodway, U.S Hwy 27

    Bronson: Buy N Save Grocery, Alt. U.S. Hwy 27

  • Open House planned

    Monday, Aug. 18 will be the first day for students at Williston High School. The school day begins at 9:05 a.m. with the first bell ringing at 9 a.m. The school day will end at 3:17 p.m. Students will have homeroom every day this year. Our "zero" period will run from 8:10 a.m. to 9 a.m.

  • Football physicals needed

    Any Williston High School students who wish to participate in football this school year must have a physical exam before they can practice. Physical forms and all other required paperwork are available in the Williston High School front office.
