Williston's girls saw their winning ways interrupted by Ocala Trinity Catholic Monday night, losing 62-49 to a team they had beaten in a tight matchup earlier this season.

The Lady Red Devils were playing without Margaret Brown, who injured her arm and, according to coach Jason Odom, is likely out until after Christmas, when WHS plays in a tournament in Belleview.

This game was pretty much decided at the free throw line. A disturbing lack of parity in the foul calls sent the Celtics to the stripe 37 times, and they made 20.

Williston took 20 shots and made only nine.

A young man walking down the street with a paintball gun was arrested for burglary by the Williston Police Department, and a day later the resident of the burglarized home was arrested for possession of stolen property.

On Dec. 3, an animal control officer notified city police about two white males carrying a paintball gun walking down Northeast First Avenue. One of the suspects, identified as Duncan R. Anderson, 18, of Northwest 160th Avenue, allegedly told officers he had taken three paintball guns from 118 N.E. First Ave.

At the annual Light Up Williston event last Friday evening, Mayor Gerald Hethcoat reminded residents how cold it had been during the ceremonies the previous year.

No such problem this time.

On a beautiful Florida night, the annual parade and the lighting of the decorations in Linear Park drew large crowds to the downtown area on Dec. 7.

Hethcoat gave a welcoming speech, asking the crowd who knew what special day it was. Bradley Perkins, 9, had the right answer: "Pearl Harbor remembrance day."
