Somewhere in the past, someone in Florida decided not to hold city elections on Election Day. So here we are, just a few weeks after the presidential primary election, ready to hold a city election next Tuesday.

There are a couple of issues on the ballot. One has to do with economic growth, which would allow tax exemptions to entice businesses to move here.

It's a necessary evil, given the competitive climate throughout the state of communities that want the jobs that go with new industry and/or business.

The Friends of the Williston Public Library will hold the March First Saturday Book Fair, March 1 at the Williston City Hall Community Center.

The hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and, as always the best buys are for the early birds.

The Book Fair is a major source of donations for "Friends", because the books themselves are donated, as are the donations that people give to take the books home. Suggested donations amounts will be displayed in the center during the fair.

One day I doubled up on a trip to Archer. After meeting with my craft group, I donned walking clothes and turned off of 241 on my way home. Nearby is an outparcel of Goethe State Forest. I've walked in this place many times before, but not recently. I like to visit a little pond there set in the wood, surrounded by many lovely trees such as hickory, maple, sweet gum, live oak, holly and pine.
