  • Council stymied over future of city hall

    For more than a year, Williston City Council has bandied about the idea of the city possibly someday acquiring the cafeteria property at the original Williston High School for conversion into a new city hall building.

    During that year there were talks about reduced prices, trading out services and lopping the cafeteria off from the rest of the school property.

    The future is now.

  • FBI makes arrest in 39-year-old crime

    Over 39 years ago, Mary Gene Bailey French and her husband, Royal, were ending a beautiful vacation in the Hawaiian Islands.

    The splendor of the trip was marred in the days ahead by a story shrouded in mystery, deception, betrayal and murder.

    Mrs. French's father, Gene Bailey, and three of his friends, were bushwhacked eight miles from Williston as they drove home from Ocala after having dinner.

  • No dog in the fight

    With the news last week that the Ministerial Faith Alliance (MFA) has the first right of refusal concerning the future of the old middle school, the Williston City Council was faced with only one action: take a bow.

    Tuesday night, City Manager Scott Lippmann told the council that the MFA has until the end of January 2017 to strike a deal with the School Board of Levy County, or walk away.

    • Nov. 22, Donyahl Michelle Adams, 40, Trenton, VOP.

    • Nov. 23, Travis S. Anthony, 31, St. Petersburg, three out of county warrants. Bond $65,026.

    • Nov. 25, Jonah Lee Arthur. 34, Bronson, touch or strike. ROR.

    • Nov. 22, Justin Henry Bailey, 22, Bronson, DWLS. Bond $1,000.

    • Nov. 23, Brandon Cody, 30, Hernando, burglary. ROR.

    Library Book Sale

    Friends of the Williston Library will hold a holiday book sale Saturday, Dec. 3 fro 9 a.m. until noon in the building behind the library, 101 SE 1st St., Williston.

    Fiction, non fiction, cookbooks, children's books, regular and large size paperbacks and many "coffee table" books are available.
