  • Music: It’s in his blood

Donald Moore Jr. doesn’t remember a time when music wasn’t an integral part of his life.

Born into a musical family that included his father and brother, it was only natural that like a moth to flame he would migrate to music.

And for the last 40 plus years, he’s stayed there.

Inspired by Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and so many who are now considered classic artists, Moore picked up the

Over 75 people braved threatening skies to attend Williston's National Day of Prayer ceremony at noon Thursday.

Speakers, representing more than a half dozen churches, took turns praying for the country, state, leaders and families during the hour-long service held at the gazebo in Heritage Park.

  • Sex offender numbers on rise in county

Researchers have long speculated on the reasons behind what drives some people to become sex offenders. From the theory that it’s a learned behavior, with offenders themselves doing what was at some point done to them, to the notion that offenders lack self-esteem or, at some point in their development, missed out on what it means to have feelings of empathy, society struggles to come to grips with the issue.

Bronson council members voted unanimously Monday night to sign a resolution acknowledging that tobacco products are dangerous and that the marketing to teenagers and children of such products within the town is discouraged.

Similarly, Williston Council unanimously approved the resolution Tuesday night.

  • Impact fees will be returned

In an attempt to correct what they once called an egregious error, the Williston City Council voted 3-2 Tuesday night to return over $104,000 in impact fees to property owners.

Council President Jason Cason and Councilor Elihu Ross opposed the action during a roll call vote.

The vote came on the heels of several months of discussion, brought to centerstage by Pyper Kub  restaurant owner David Bibby who told council months ago that his research had determined that another restaurant, Melanie’s, had not been charged impact fees.

The board ratified a contract in a unanimous vote at its Tuesday, April 2, meeting after Assistant Superintendent Patrick Wneck and Superintendent Bob Hastings reported teachers voted 203-202 to approve it on March 13.
