  • Red Devils win

    The Williston Varsity Baseball team crushed the Wildwood Wildcats on Tuesday, May 6, at the Devils Den 15-0.

    Leading 8-0 after three complete innings of play, the Wildcats were held in check by Red Devil Pitcher Trent Johnson.

    Emptying their bench in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Red Devils exploded for 7 runs on 9 base hits to take the commanding 15-0 lead.

    The Red Devils will play for the Regional Championship Tuesday, May 13, Game time is 7 p.m.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:

    • April 28, Erica Sue Allen, 36, Inglis, writ of non support.

    • May 2, Jacob Logan Anderson, 20, Old Town, petit theft. Bond $1,500.

    • April 29, Cody James Blair, 22, Bronson, VOP.

    • April 28, Sylvia Chisolm, 30, Fanning Springs, robbery. Bond $75,000.

  • Sheriff says Crab-Fest was calm

    It was a good day for pats on the back and 'attaboys at the Levy County Commission meeting on Tuesday.

    First up was Sheriff Bobby McCallum who said he wanted to thank everyone for a calm Williston Crab-Fest.

    “We had no incidents at the event this year,” McCallum said. “We did have some folks coming there with ill intentions and they were intercepted by the other county.”

  • Delinquent taxes publish today

    The Levy County Tax Collector's Office is publishing the annual delinquent tax list in the Chiefland Citizen this year.

    The 38-page supplement to the Citizen, lists 6,146 properties on which taxes are owed for 2013, down from the 6,188 listed last year. There were 6,796 properties on the list published in 2010 and 6,570 on the list published in 2009 -both at the lowest points in the county's economy.

  • Williston school in final state budget

    Startup money for a new Williston Middle/High School and Levy Campus for the College of Central Florida has been included in the state budget for 2014-2015 that was approved by the state Legislature last week and is heading to the governor's office.

  • Students of the Month honored

    Williston Mayor R. Gerald Hethcoat and the city council honored May students of the month Tuesday night.

    Eighth grader Ryker Gauthier, a student at Williston Central Christian Academy, was nominated by Michele Winningham. He is the son of Leo and Rhonda Gauthier.

    • April 27, Klaytin Ezrha Adams, 34, Chiefland, two counts possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver, listed chemical for manufacturing controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, keeping a shop for drugs.

  • Trent Johnson pitches Red Devils to District Championship


    On Thursday night April 24, the Williston Red Devils faced the Union County Tigers for the District 7 1A Championship.

    The game was controlled by Red Devil pitcher Trent Johnson as he overpowered the Tigers spreading 3 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 12 Tiger hitters, and walking none.

  • Chiefland meth lab busted


    Staff Report

    Levy County Sheriff’s deputies investigating vehicle burglaries came across an active meth lab in Chiefland and arrested two people operating the business on Sunday, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.
