  • No city manager yet

    The interviews have been complete for two weeks now, but the Williston City Council is not rushing to hire a new city manager.
    Only two agenda items were on last week’s pre-Thanksgiving meeting and one was the city manager selection process.
    Council has contracted with Hunter Investigations to conduct background checks on the applicants.
    Francis Hunter, the investigator presented the council with summaries from his findings prior to the Nov. 20 meeting, but that wasn’t enough for several councilmen.

  • The season of sharing

    Each year the Williston Pioneer publishes a special section called “Christmas Greetings” the week prior to Christmas.
    The section is filled with letters to Santa, holiday recipes and photographs that reflect the spirit of the season.

  • Fund established for ailing paramedic

    On Oct. 17 Paramedic Kenny Luzader suffered a massive heart attack while on duty at Levy County Department of Public Safety on Bronson transport unit Medic 1, according to Public Safety Director David Knowles.
     He since has had open heart surgery and after some unexpected complications, he is on the road to recovery.
    Luzader will be unable to return to work for several months while he is recuperating.  While the sole provider of the household is recovering, he has his wife, Sherry and young daughter, Chloe by his side.

  • Light Up Williston set for Dec. 1

    The holiday season is just around the corner and the Williston Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 10th Annual Williston Christmas Parade.  
    The parade will be Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. and will be the official start of the “2012 Light up Williston Festivities”.  This year the parade theme is “My Favorite Christmas Movie.”
