  • Carnegie Hall or Bust

    It’s a long way from Williston to Carnegie Hall, but high school junior Zachary Goodspeed will soon make the trek that thousands of other musicians only dream about.

    On Sunday, Feb. 10, Zack will join other high school musicians in a concert in the legendary hall during the American High School Honors Performance Series that showcases some of the most talented student performers in high school today.

  • Williston qualifying begins Monday

    At least one city councilor will not be seeking re-election when qualifying begins Monday, Jan. 14 in Williston.

    Norm Fugate, elected to the city in council in 2011, tendered a letter of resignation Tuesday stating that his scheduling conflict as the attorney for Cedar Key would allow him to only attend one Williston council meeting between now and the end of his term in April. 

    His resignation was accepted and became effective at the beginning of Tuesday night’s meeting.

  • Sheriff makes management changes

     Sheriff Bobby McCallum, who took office at midnight Dec. 31, has already started organizing his management team at the Levy County Sheriff's Office naming W.O. “Brett” Beauchamp III as undersheriff/legal advisor and elevating Maj. Mike Sheffield of corrections to the rank of colonel and naming him chief of staff.
