His mother warned that he was humble and didn't have a lot to say, but it only took minutes before Willie Duncan, this year's valedictorian at Williston High School, sat back in his chair and opened up about what it's like to be a history-maker.
Willie, the son of Rosa Snead and Gerald Duncan, is the first black male to hold the number one spot at the school.
And that's a little disconcerting.
"I really wanted to be the first black valedictorian," says the lanky Willie who has an infectious smile, "but Erica beat me to it."
