  • Woman faces fraud charges after pleas at churches

    A woman who allegedly told local churches that her child needed a kidney transplant has been arrested by Levy County Sheriff’s officials on one count of scheme to defraud, and could face more charges in the city of Williston and in Marion County.

    On Dec. 2, Investigator Roger Bell arrested Misty Dawn Everly, 34, of 19039 S.W. 29th St., Dunnellon.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    A Bronson man who started to drive up to a residence where the Levy County Drug Task Force was executing a search warrant tried to flee from deputies, but was eventually caught and charged.

    Chad Alexander Cumbo, 24, of Northeast 75th Street, Bronson, was charged with fleeing and eluding, driving while license suspended or revoked, violation of probation for possession of both cocaine and marijuana, with no bond on the latter two charges.

  • Williston Police Reports

    The Williston Police Department announces the following arrests:

    * Abraham D. Sanford, 33, of Northwest 1st Avenue, Williston, was charged with grand theft auto, criminal use of personal identification information (3 counts) and criminal mischief.

    According to reports, he allegedly stole a pickup truck, tried to use two ATM cards, which the machine kept when he could not get the PIN right, then used a credit card at a convenience store to purchase gasoline.

    * June Arlene Keene, 73, of Elfers was arrested on a Pasco County warrant after a traffic stop by local police.

  • Williston Police Reports

    Tre Wilson, 14, of Southeast 10th Street, Williston, was charged with aggravated battery and throwing a deadly missile. According to Williston Police reports, the victim and his wife were driving westbound on Noble Avenue on a motorcycle. When they reached Northeast 10th Street, they allegedly saw someone pick up a rock and throw it, striking the victim on the right side of his head.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office announces the following arrests:

    * Joseph Walters, 16, of Northwest 60th Lane, Bronson, was arrested on a felony charge of possessing weapons on school property after the search of a bag that allegedly belonged to him found two knives.

    * Kenneth Wiedman, 26, of Northeast 60th Place, Bronson, was accused of battery after an incident at a residence on County Road 337.

  • Drug task force turns to Bronson

    Reports from the Levy County Drug Task Force keeping coming in, but now the focus has shifted from Williston to Bronson.

    The Task Force announced eight arrests this week, some with multiple counts, all in the Bronson area.

  • Police arrest burglary suspects

    Williston Police on Tuesday arrested two area teens for the attempted burglary of a residence in the 100 block of Northeast Third Avenue.

    A neighbor saw two suspicious subjects by the back door of a house at 9:25 a.m. The resident was not at home. The suspects saw the neighbor and fled on foot with the neighbor in pursuit.

    The suspects split up, but were later located by officers Bond and Morris at a residence on Northeast 10th Street they have been called to before.

    Arrested were Chauncee Myers of Southeast 10th Street and Sydney Frasier Jr. of Williston.

  • County speeding crackdown set

    Mud boggers who use a private site on County Road 337 near Northeast 125th Street need to have their driver's licenses, vehicle registrations and insurance papers up to date on Sunday, Oct. 26 as the Levy County Sheriff's Office is conducting a checkpoint at the intersection.

    Capt. Evan Sullivan, spokesman for Sheriff Johnny Smith, said neighbors around the site are complaining about drunk drivers and littering associated with the weekend gatherings. "This is not a sanctioned mud bog because they do not charge money," Sullivan said.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office has announced the following arrests:

    Matt Wilson, 44, of Oak Avenue Bronson, and Marty Wilson, 42, of the same address, were charged with dealing in stolen property and grand theft auto after officials recovered a travel trailer that had been stolen from Bronson.

    Bond was set at $25,000 each.

    Stephanie Fawn Rizer, 34, of Old Town, whose occupation was listed as a corrections officer, was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked and violation of restriction after she was stopped in Bronson. Bond was set at $1,000.

  • Drug task force arrests pair

    The Levy County Drug Task Force announced more arrests in the Williston area.

    Jethro Herbert White Jr., 21, of Northeast 40th Street, Williston, was charged with three counts of possession of crack cocaine, three counts of sale of crack cocaine and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after alleged purchases by a confidential source.

    His total bond was set at $75,000.
