If you plan on traveling away to visit love ones please keep these tips in mind. Following a few simple crime prevention tips can help reduce your risk of becoming a victim.

The Williston Police Department announced the following arrests:

* Sadie Mae Harris, 48, of Rt. 1, Williston, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft after she was allegedly observed taking $58 worth of merchandise at Family Dollar.

* Kenneth Earl Oswalt, 31, of Southwest Eighth Place, The Arbours, was charged with midemeanor violation of injunction.

* Keith W. Frasier, 46, of Northeast 10th Street, was charged with vilation of probation for possession of paraphernalia on a Levy County warrant.

The Williston Police Department has announced the following arrests:

* Dasharee D. Berry, 39, of Highway 318, Reddick, was arrested on a Violation of Probation for fraud warrant out of Alachua County.

* Jeremy D. Donald, 19, of Northeast 40th Avenue, Williston, was charged with felony possession of marijuana after the car in which he was riding was stopped for loud music.

* Harold Dallas Jr., 19, was arrested for felony possession of marijuana in the same incident. A third suspect ran from the scene.

Charities were developed to meet certain needs of society that are not part of public assistance.

Unfortunately, some charities that have been developed are not really assisting for the "public good". Charities can solicit funds in many different ways such as raffles, mail or phone solicitation, paper advertisements and ticket sales.

Some of the things that you might want to consider before you contribute to a charity are:

* Avoid giving cash to strangers and take time to learn more about the charitable organization you are contemplating giving to.
