  • Williston police reports

    A traffic stop by Williston Police on CR318 led to the arrest of two people, one for driving with a suspended license and the other for possession of cocaine.

    On May 17, Cpl. Kevin B. Sheppard stopped a vehicle for having an expired tag. The driver, Brandy April Nutt, 26, of Keystone Heights, was found to have her license suspended five times for failure to pay traffic fines, and was arrested.

  • Fugitive arrested

    On May 23, the Levy County Sheriff's Office and the United States Marshals Service arrested Jeffrey Wayne Rinehart, 60, for violation of probation- sexually molesting a child and failure to register as a sexual offender.

    The Levy County Sheriff's Office announced the following felony arrests:

    * Alvin Edward Cloninger, 29, of Davenport, burglary if a structure. No bond.

    * Michelle Ann Waskom, 37, of Williston, worthless check. Released on own recognizance.

    * William Dray Harris, 19, of Gulf Hammock, battery. Released on own recognizance.

    * Willie Leon Blunt, 48, of Williston, dealing in stolen property.

    * Sonia J. Carter 48, of Archer, burglary of a structure, forgery or altering a bill or note and scheme to defraud. Bond $10,000.

  • Williston police reports

    Williston Police officers pursued and apprehended an Archer man Monday night when he refused to stop after coming out from behind a church at 1:50 a.m.

    Thomas Fletcher of the 7200 block of Southeast 78th Place was arrested in a wooded area east of State Road 121 in Alachua County just north of the Levy County line.

    Fletcher fled from his vehicle and had to be tasered to be subdued. He was hospitalized after stating that he had a heart condition and allegedly admitting he was under the influence of crack cocaine.

  • Store clerk faces narcotics charges

    The clerk at a Williston convenience store has been arrested on various charges by the Levy County Sheriff's Office.

    On May 7, Waqas Illahi, 27, was arrested for trafficking in controlled substance, sale of controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school and three counts of resisting arrest with violence.

  • Reward offered in horse abuse case

    The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward up to $2,500 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for several acts of apparent animal cruelty at an equine rescue center near Morriston.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    A Williston man was charged April 24 with sexual battery on a mentally defective victim.

    Mark Ezzell, 39, was arrested after someone found him and the alleged male victim in bed while his caregiver was away. Bail was set at $100,000.

    Others charged with felonies last week by officers with the Levy County Sheriff's Office include:

    Christopher P. Hicks, 30, of Trenton, forgery-obtaining a controlled substance. Bond $2,500.

    Catrell L. Evans, 25, of Micanopy, fraud, failure to redeliver leased property. He was released on his own recognizance.

  • Williston police reports

    The Williston Police Department has announced the following arrests:

    Roy T. Rutlin, 45, of Southeast Fourth Drive, Williston, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and was also arrested on a felony warrant from Levy County for forgery, fraud (false name to law enforcement officer), driving while licenses suspended or revoked as a habitual traffic offender.

  • Make your home safer

    * Invest in solid doors and good quality locks on doors and windows. This includes on all sliding glass doors as well. Make it not only difficult but also time consuming for a burglar to gain entry.

    * Whenever you go outside, lock the door and take the key with you, even if you are just stepping next door or out mowing the back yard.

    * Don't put valuables where they can be seen from the window, especially items that can be easily carried.

    * Be sure your garage door can be secured. Do not leave it open when you are away; that broadcasts your absence.
