The clerk at a Williston convenience store has been arrested on various charges by the Levy County Sheriff's Office.

On May 7, Waqas Illahi, 27, was arrested for trafficking in controlled substance, sale of controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school and three counts of resisting arrest with violence.

A Williston man was charged April 24 with sexual battery on a mentally defective victim.

Mark Ezzell, 39, was arrested after someone found him and the alleged male victim in bed while his caregiver was away. Bail was set at $100,000.

Others charged with felonies last week by officers with the Levy County Sheriff's Office include:

Christopher P. Hicks, 30, of Trenton, forgery-obtaining a controlled substance. Bond $2,500.

Catrell L. Evans, 25, of Micanopy, fraud, failure to redeliver leased property. He was released on his own recognizance.

* Invest in solid doors and good quality locks on doors and windows. This includes on all sliding glass doors as well. Make it not only difficult but also time consuming for a burglar to gain entry.

* Whenever you go outside, lock the door and take the key with you, even if you are just stepping next door or out mowing the back yard.

* Don't put valuables where they can be seen from the window, especially items that can be easily carried.

* Be sure your garage door can be secured. Do not leave it open when you are away; that broadcasts your absence.

The Williston Police Department lists the following arrests:

* Pedro Cortez, 22, of Southeast Sixth Street, Williston, was arrested for no valid driver's license after being stopped for speeding on Northeast Fourth Avenue.

* Elder Leonel Alvarado Alba, 23, of Southeast Third St., Williston, was charged with DUI (alcohol) and no valid driver's license after being stopped for weaving in and out of lane on Northeast U.S. Highway 27.
