  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    Three people were arrested in downtown Chiefland on Sept. 23 for possession of anhydrous ammonia in an unapproved container and possession of drug paraphernalia.

    Deputy Matthew King arrested Vincent Louis Baker, 37, of Sandi Street, Inglis,, Samuel Garrett, 24, of Breezy Way, Inglis, and Linsey Cowles, 27, also of Breezy Way, on the charges.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Drug Task Force continued to arrest suspects from drug buys made earlier in the Williston area.

    * Harold Monroe Dallas, 21, of Northeast 23rd Place, Williston, was charged with two counts of possession of more than 20 grams of cannabis and sale of cannabis after alleged sales to a confidential source on July 11 and July 14 in the 21300 block of Northeast 35th Street. Total bond was $45,000.

  • Hunting safety tips

    With hunting season quickly approaching I would like to talk about hunter safety and give you some guidelines on how not to be a statistic. Hunters look forward to fellowshipping with their families and friends in the woods. I know this is a much anticipated moment for all hunters to camp in the woods, smell that pot of coffee brewing on the stove, listen to the camp fire crackling in the background and of course harvest that big buck. This is a time when hard work pays off by you scouting the woods, preparing food plots, cutting fire wood and getting the camp site ready.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    The Levy County Drug Task Force was back at work recently, making another buy and arrest in the Williston area.

    Arrested was Kebris D. Jelks, 30, of Northeast 40th Street, Williston. Once in May, and twice in July, officials had used a confidential source to purchase crack cocaine, and Jelks was charged with three counts each of possession of cocaine and sale of crack cocaine. His total bond was $75,000.

  • Williston Police Reports

    Tracy A. Kennedy, 22, of Old Town, charged with possession of cocaine and paraphernalia after she was spotted by a Williston Police officer in the area of Northeast 13th Street. Total bond, $2,500.

    Rebecca M. Taylor, 24, of Gainesville, was charged with possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia after she was spotted by a Williston Police officer in the area of Northeast 13th Street.

  • Differences between burglary and robbery

    I would like to clear the air and inform you the difference in the crimes of burglary and robbery. At times the Levy County Sheriff's Office receives a call from a complainant stating that have been robbed when they had the unfortunate incident of being a victim of burglary.

    In 2007 Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a State report that the Levy County Sheriff's Office seen a reduction in robberies by 40 percent and burglary and theft were also down by 21 percent.

  • Levy County Sheriff's Reports

    Thrown beer bottles followed by a car chase resulted in the arrest of two men on Sept. 1.

    According to a report from the Levy County Sheriff's Office, a deputy responded to the area of State Road 121 and Northeast 20th Street shortly after 11 p.m. after a complaint of an occupant of a vehicle throwing beer bottles at a residence.

    The Williston Police Department announces the following arrests:

    * Edwardo Sick Jeronimo, 29, address unknown, was charged with DUI, resisting with violence, resisting without violence and no valid driver's license after being stopped for driving on the wrong side of the road by Officer David Deonarine. While a passenger was being directed back into the car, the driver ran from the scene, chased by the officer.

  • When is warrantless search permitted?

    Law Enforcement may make a warrantless arrest if there is probable cause to believe that a felony has been committed and the individual is the perpetrator of the crime.

    If the crime involved a misdemeanor, the Deputy may not ordinarily make a warrantless arrest unless the crime was committed in the Deputies presence.

    However there are a few statutory exceptions to the above provisions concerning misdemeanors.

    The Williston Police Dept. announces the following arrests:

    * Herman Edwards, 21, of Southwest 8th Place, Williston, was charged with possession of marijuana less than 20 grams after police responded to a domestic disturbance at the apartment he was in.

    * Julius G. Weston, 21, of Southwest 8th Place, Williston, was charged with assault, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams and possession of paraphernalia after police responded to a domestic disturbance at his apartment.
