  • Sheriff adds two dispatchers

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office, which has been trying to find money to hire more dispatchers for its busy communications center found the answer next door at the jail.
    Maj. Evan Sullivan, head of law enforcement, requested and received unanimous approval to move $41,157.18 from the jail budget to the dispatch budget during Tuesday’s regular County Commission meeting.

    The Levy County Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests:
    • April 21, Richard Demond Addison, 24, Archer, housed for Alachua County–possession of cocaine, attempted murder/robbery.
    • April 19,  Paul Edward Brady, 37, St. Pete Beach, DWLSR habitual. Bond $2,000.
    • April 18, Jerry Thomas Brissenden, 49, Crystal River, DWLSR and DUI. Bond $50,000.
    • April 18, Richard Squire Brock, 51, Trenton, domestic battery, aggravated domestic assault. Bond $260,000.

  • Teen arrested after running wild in Bronson

       A 15-year-old is accused of stealing two cars, taking gas from a third, and nearly hitting a Levy County patrol deputy head-on during a car and foot chase Wednesday morning, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.

    Cody Thatcher, 15, is charged with grand theft, accused of taking a car in Clay county on Monday and later abandoning it in the Bronson Middle/High School parking lot.

  • Drugs, guns $100,000 land 'Jane Doe' in jail

    A woman who claims to not understand English or Spanish and was in a home with drugs, guns and over $100,000 in money has been jailed as a "Jane Doe," according to a Levy County Sheriff's Office press release.
     The arrest came after deputies and federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents did a "knock and talk" at a home on Southeast 80th Street in Morriston. A woman answered the door and officers detected the odor of marijuana.

  • WPD wants your drugs

    The Williston Police Department will be participating in the National Prescription Take Back Day on April 30. 

    An officer will be standing by in the parking lot of the Police Department from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Saturday, April 30 to assist in the collection of unwanted, outdated or excess prescription drugs. 

    Citizens can dispose of their unwanted prescriptions legally and safely with anonymity and without documentation.

  • One killed in four-car collision

    A four-vehicle accident April 12 that involved seven people resulted in the death of one person.

    According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on US Alt 27 at NE 100 Court, approximately a mile east of Bronson around 9:47 p.m.

    The 16-year-old juvenile driver of a 2005 Toyota was traveling north across the westbound lane of US 27A, the report says, and a motorcycle was traveling west on US 27A in the outside lane.
