For the third year in a row, serious crime in the city of Williston declined.

According to FDLE statistics for 2008, serious crimes were down 7.3 percent, violent crimes down 26.9 percent and non-violent crime went up .8 percent.

Violent crime in Florida has trended up in recent years, largely led by Florida’s urban centers.

There were no robberies in Williston in 2008 and only one forcible sex offense.

The Williston Police Department announces the following arrests:

Jorge H. Hernandez, 28, of 5th Terrace, Williston, was charged with no driver’s license after he was stopped for having no tag light.

Boyd Williams, 79, of Southwest 1st Avenue, Williston, was charged with domestic battery after an incident at his home.

The Williston Police Department released information on the following arrests:

Scott A. Mead, 35, of Southwest 3rd Street, Williston, was accused of battery in an incident outside his home with a man who allegedly owed him money.

Eugene Thomas Days, 41, of Southeast 10th Street, Williston, was accused of DUI and driving while license suspended or revoked after he was stopped by a police officer who recognized him and knew that his license was suspended.

The Williston Police Dept. has announced the following arrests:

Ed Clifton Hill, 44, of Northeast 40th Street, Williston, was accused of trespassing and retail theft after he allegedly took three steaks valued at $26.77 from the Hitchcock’s store.

He had been given a trespass warning in the past.

Juan Francisco, 32, of Southeast 5th Terrace, Williston, was charged with misuse of 911 after he called several times and said someone was there to hurt him. No one was found, and, according to the report, he was intoxicated.
